(Following interview ④) Actor Kim Hee-won of 'Hi-Five' expressed his support for his close junior actor Eom Tae-goo's challenge as a web entertainment MC, while also expressing concern.
Kim Hee-won conducted an interview on the afternoon of the 28th in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. He talked with domestic reporters about the upcoming film 'Hi-Five' (directed by Kang Hyung-cheol, provided/distributed by NEW, produced by Annapurna Films).
'Hi-Five' is a comic action drama depicting the story of five individuals who accidentally gain different superpowers through organ transplants and confront those who seek their abilities. Kim Hee-won plays the role of 'Yak-seon', who after receiving a liver transplant, takes on others' pain and heals with just a touch.
Ahead of the release, Kim Hee-won recently appeared in the web entertainment show 'Workman,' which is available on YouTube. Eom Tae-goo, a close junior actor with whom Kim Hee-won collaborated in his directorial debut series 'Light Shop', was selected as the new MC of 'Workman,' sparking curiosity. Knowing Eom Tae-goo’s quiet and reserved personality, Kim Hee-won appeared to express his support with concern. In fact, fellow actor Kwon Yul, with whom they appeared together, jokingly asked, "Did someone threaten you? Do you have debts to the company?" causing laughter.
In this regard, Kim Hee-won said, "I’m really worried. I just don’t understand." He noted, "It’s okay for a guest to come on a variety show and not say much since it’s a one-time appearance. But can a regular MC do that? I thought to myself, 'Is that even possible?'" expressing his concern.
It is only natural that Eom Tae-goo was extremely nervous when he appeared as a guest on tvN's variety show 'House on Wheels', where Kim Hee-won was a regular cast member. Kim Hee-won recalled, "At that time, Tae-goo was so nervous that he took the remote control for the camper van on 'House on Wheels'. He was so nervous that he put it in his bag without realizing it. Later, we found out it was missing and had to operate manually," he joked, bringing laughter.
However, Kim Hee-won said, "But I heard that when Tae-goo was on 'House on Wheels', his mother was very happy. She said, ‘My son is an actor, but nobody knew about it’, and after he appeared on 'House on Wheels', his mother was overjoyed. Thinking about that, I believe that for Tae-goo, this variety show could be a way of paying back to his family," sending support for Eom Tae-goo's 'Workman.'
'Hi-Five' will be released in theaters nationwide on the 30th.
