YG General Producer Yang Hyun-suk has presented YG's new master plan to strengthen the activities of its artists, including BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, and TREASURE, along with accelerating the launch of new talent.
On the 26th, YG Entertainment posted 'BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, AND UPCOMING ROOKIES | YG ANNOUNCEMENT' on its official blog. This is the first interview video of the year featuring General Producer Yang Hyun-suk, which contains YG's blueprint for the second half of 2025.
After a seven-month absence, Yang Hyun-suk first excited global music fans by saying that he might soon announce BLACKPINK's new song. The last new song from BLACKPINK was the [BORN PINK] album released on Sept. 16, 2022, which officially confirms the news of a new song after about 2 years and 8 months.
BABYMONSTER will also embark on active promotions. Starting with the release of a pre-release single on July 1, they have announced a relentless schedule, including a second single in September and a mini album release on Oct. 1. The title of the pre-release single is 'HOT SAUCE,' which comes approximately 8 months after the release of the regular 1st album [DIRP] on Nov. 1, 2024.
Yang noted, "'HOT SAUCE' is a hip-hop song from the mid-1980s. It is highly addictive and is a song we hope brings joy to you this summer. I wondered what it would feel like if BABYMONSTER, with an average age of 10, sang the early music genre of hip-hop from 40 years ago, and I attempted it, resulting in a very satisfying outcome."
TREASURE will also release a new mini album on Sept. 1. Yang stated, "We will do our best to ensure that TREASURE releases more than two albums each year and continues to meet with fans." TREASURE is expected to begin a new world tour in October following their comeback.
Yang surprised music fans by sharing not only the schedules of the affiliated artists but also the composition of the YG trainees, which had long been shrouded in secrecy, as well as plans for introducing new talent.
Yang expressed the desire to launch two boy groups and two girl groups currently preparing for debut at YG, noting, "I want to launch one boy group next year." He specifically mentioned that there is a girl group with a confirmed number of members, aiming for a quick launch.
YG plans to sequentially release practice videos of the four members starting from the 28th. Yang stated that, as was the case before BABYMONSTER's debut, they would showcase the practice videos of the new talent in advance, saying, "I hope you evaluate their skills as they are, as you see them, and as you hear them."
However, since Yang has expressed a desire to focus more on BABYMONSTER's growth until the end of next year, the official debut timing of YG's new girl group is expected to be after that.
With the imminent announcement of BLACKPINK's new song, the large-scale world tour starting on July 5, and announcements of BABYMONSTER's single and mini album in July and October, as well as TREASURE's mini album announcement on Sept. 1 and world tour schedule in October, YG is expected to have a busier than ever second half of 2025.
At the end of the interview, Yang emphasized that he has significantly changed and developed YG's internal system over the past year. He stated that accelerating new artists' debuts and increasing intellectual property is a top priority, and he expressed determination to showcase the upgraded YG system starting this fall.
Meanwhile, after the interview, the video displayed a caption reading 'THE FIRST MEMBER OF YG'S NEXT GIRL GROUP. STAY TUNED.' With Yang showing extraordinary confidence, global music fans' attention is focused on the upcoming reveal of the first member of the four-member girl group on the 28th.
