SEVENTEEN celebrated their 10th anniversary with a special event alongside fans.
On the 25th at 7:30 p.m., a large offline event commemorating SEVENTEEN's debut 10th anniversary, 'B-DAY PARTY: BURST Stage @ 잠수교' (hereafter BURST Stage), took place at the 잠수교 in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
That day, SEVENTEEN opened with the title track 'THUNDER' from their 5th studio album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY'. As they were the first K-pop artists to perform at the 잠수교, Mingyu expressed his excitement, saying, "I imagined a lot after hearing that I would perform at the 잠수교. I wondered if there would be yachts? Would the sunset be beautiful? I was also worried about the rain, but it seems to be perfect in many ways. I hope everyone enjoys it to the end."
Hoshi thanked the fans, saying, "I'm told we are the first K-pop artist to perform at the 잠수교. It must be thanks to the Carats," while DK also noted, "Without the Carats, we wouldn't have been able to achieve this first." Seungkwan added, "When you think of Korea, the Han River is indispensable. Many citizens, including us, often visit the Han River. Upon hearing the news that we would perform at the 잠수교, I felt nervous and excited. I think the Carats felt the same way."
Hoshi then asked, "How did you feel about the first song 'THUNDER'? Did it give you chills?" Woozi replied, "'THUNDER' is a very intense song, but while making albums over the past 10 years, there were times I thought maybe I couldn't do it anymore. But heaven didn't forsake me. The inspiration struck me like lightning. It's that kind of music, so I hope you enjoy it just as it is."
Seungkwan pointed out, "An important point is that Woozi never said he got inspired when making songs. This is the first time inspiration came from 'THUNDER.' It's meaningful for us, and our album comes out tomorrow on our 10th anniversary. That's why the album is named 'HAPPY BURSTDAY.'" Mingyu added, "Since tomorrow is also our 10th anniversary and it's the 5th album, we combined the names happy birthday and burst. It's an album celebrating our 10th anniversary and 'burst' means explosion, eruption, and beginning," to which Hoshi further stated, "It signifies explosion, growth, and moving forward."
Vernon said, "There are 3 group songs and solo songs for all 13 members. Please listen to all 16 songs," adding, "This is also a first." Mingyu expressed his regret that Wonwoo could not join today but noted that there are solo songs he participated in on the 5th album, so he asked fans to anticipate it. Dino continued, "As we're at the 잠수교, there will be a gorgeous fountain show and large fireworks. I hope you look forward to it. Isn’t today a B-day party? Please look forward to the party too."
Next, SEVENTEEN also premiered another track from the album, 'HBD.' Following that, they performed 'HOT,' during which the fans' enthusiastic chanting moved SEVENTEEN to express their emotional response. Seungkwan remarked, "After the opening, we ran hot with 'HBD' and 'HOT,' but now we want to go with a more emotional mood with a slightly cool breeze," and Mingyu suggested, "How about we ride the waves before heading to the next performance? I think it would fit well with the next stage." The fans then proceeded to 'ride the waves' in succession, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.
Subsequently, SEVENTEEN performed stages for 'April Shower,' 'Our Dawn is Hotter than Day,' and 'Headliner.' Seungkwan said, "These songs are also touching for us. It’s moving to perform 'Headliner' together. Thank you, Carats," conveying his emotion, while Hoshi expressed, "The headliner here is the Carats."
After finishing 'I'm on my way to find you' and 'Rock with you,' Hoshi expressed his regret, saying, "It feels like we just debuted the other day, and already it's our 10th anniversary. It feels like we just started the performance, but now it’s almost the end." Seungkwan added, "The opportunity to perform in this space is a miraculous chance for us, and many people helped us make it possible. If we were to perform for 4.5 or 3.5 hours like a concert, it might become difficult to handle."
Hoshi asked, "How do you feel about the 10th anniversary?" and DK replied, "I feel very nice," while Jun expressed, "Since it’s the 10th anniversary, my heart is very warm and hot," referencing the song title. Joshua shared, "I like the Han River. I was so excited thinking about how wonderful it would be to be with Carats in this space; when we heard we would perform, I thought, 'This is insane.'" Hoshi also revealed, "I arrived here by bike for the festival. It’s amazing to perform here."
Finally, after passionately singing 'Let's go together,' 'God of Music,' and 'Eyes on you,' SEVENTEEN concluded the stage with the encore staple 'Very NICE.' Joshua raised the atmosphere by saying, "Carats have worked so hard for 10 years. I love you to the point of dying. Let's be together forever," and the fans shouted for, "One more time."
S.Coups added, "We'll do this one last time, but once this song ends, we'll exit coolly. Please follow the safety personnel's guidance and return home safely." Mingyu emphasized, "Since we had a good time in the park, please leave it clean," while Hoshi also quoted, "The best performance is created by the best audience." After performing 'Very NICE,' the SEVENTEEN members concluded the concert with remarks such as, "Let's do this here again for our 20th anniversary," and "Please love 'THUNDER' a lot."
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN's 5th studio album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY' will be released on the 26th at 6 p.m.
