The group ILLIT has added a significant record on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, ahead of its comeback next month.
According to Spotify on the 25th, the title track "Magnetic" from ILLIT's mini album "SUPER REAL ME" has accumulated 605,284,000 streams as of the 23rd. This is the shortest time for a debut song of a K-pop group to reach the same streaming figure on Spotify.
"Magnetic" is a dance genre mix of Pluggnb and House, likening feelings for a favorite person to a magnet. With clever lyrics about "super attraction" and choreography that uses finger movements, it has become popular, igniting a global challenge craze.
The song made a splash in the global market upon its release in March last year. "Magnetic" not only dominated major domestic music charts but also became the first K-pop debut song to enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K. Official Singles Top 100 chart at the fastest pace. Additionally, the song showed its strength by ranking among the top K-pop songs in various global annual charts last year, thanks to its lasting popularity. Even now, a year after its release, "Magnetic" continues to be beloved and remains in the rankings of major domestic music charts.
Meanwhile, ILLIT will release its mini album "bomb" on the 16th of next month. They have captured the attention of global fans by early releasing snippets of all the tracks, including the title track "Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)."
