Representative Kim Won-guk revealed the fact that he is producing the first series with Disney+.
On the morning of the 23rd, the 'Disney+ Open House' event was held on the 7th floor of the Gangnam Finance Center located in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul (headquarters of The Walt Disney Company Korea). Attendees included Choi Yeon-woo, head of local content at The Walt Disney Company Korea, representative Kim Won-guk of the new original series 'Made in Korea', and representative Yoo Jeong-hun of 'The Killer's Shopping Mall'.
This year, 2025, Disney+ plans to capture global subscribers by establishing a solid lineup. Starting with the January premiere of 'Trigger', starring Kim Hye-soo, the first half of the year featured the medical thriller 'Hyper Knife', starring Sul Kyung-gu and Park Eun-bin, and the new work 'Nine Puzzles', starring Kim Da-mi and Son Suk-ku. The second half of the year is expected to include 'Low Life', starring Ryu Seung-ryong, Yang Se-jong, and Lim Soo-jung, 'Polaris', starring Jun Ji-hyun and Gang Dong-won, 'The Murky Stream', starring Rowoon and Shin Ye Eun, and 'The Manipulated', starring Ji Chang-wook and Doh Kyung Soo.
Representative Kim Won-guk noted, "HYBE Media Corp started as a company based on movies and released a drama titled 'A Good Man' on Disney, and also produced the first original 'Made in Korea' with Disney. We entered the drama market by starting the series, and for that reason, I think the role of OTT companies is very significant. We are in a position to create content, but we did not even dare to make traditional broadcasting dramas of 16 episodes. However, it seems that we have been able to create such series through OTT, which can go global."
He also said, "When making any work, I believe that having the mindset of 'let's create content that can succeed the most in Korea' can allow for programming on a global scale. We are focusing on that aspect," and added, "When producing dramas or films, we aim to create content that can be serialized or have spin-offs, allowing for the expansion of the universe. Our production company worked on the movie 'Seoul's Spring', but before that, there was 'The Director General of Namsan', which has a similar universe, and that also makes sense."
