Actor Park Byung-eun has once again solidified his position at the center of the story with a performance that instills confidence.

The Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang,' released on 16th, tells the story of Hongrang, the son of Joseon's largest merchant who returns after 12 years with no memory, while only his half-sister Jaeyi questions his identity. 'Dear Hongrang' generated high expectations with a stellar lineup including Park Byung-eun, Lee Jae-wook, Jo Bo-ah, Jung Ga-ram, and Uhm Ji-won before its release.

In the series, Park Byung-eun plays Hongrang's (Lee Jae-wook) biological father and the formidable leader of the merchant guild, 'Shim Yeol-guk,' displaying a charismatic presence that is both cold and imposing. Shim Yeol-guk appears to lead the merchant guild with stability on the surface, but in reality, he maintains his position thanks to the power of his wife Min Yeon (Uhm Ji-won). To protect this imperfect power and realize his hidden ambitions, Shim Yeol-guk actively engages in fierce calculations and intricate power struggles, adding tension to the relationships and narrative between characters.

Park Byung-eun persuasively portrayed the multi-layered inner world and complex narrative of Shim Yeol-guk. He skillfully conveyed all the emotional nuances of Shim Yeol-guk, who rarely reveals his inner feelings, including his responsibilities as a father, desires as a power holder, and delicate emotions toward Min Yeon, using his piercing gaze and expressive acting to organically connect the plot.

Park Byung-eun delivered a weighty performance, delicately expressing the characters' emotions in every scene of 'Dear Hongrang.' His ability to dominate the story through his mere presence and the authenticity of his emotional portrayal once again proved him as a 'trustworthy actor.'

With his acting momentum boosted by the Disney+ original series 'Hyper Knife,' the movie 'Lobby,' and now the Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang,' the presence of actor Park Byung-eun, who absorbs any character in his own way, draws attention to where his challenges will lead him next, making future developments even more noteworthy.
