Singer Bobby Kim held a guerrilla concert in front of an audience of 4, facing criticism that it was "making a mockery of singers and fans."
On the 15th, a video titled "Foreign Workers - The Production Staff Cried While Editing the Stage" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "StudioHey."
Bobby Kim visited Korea University, located in Anam-dong, and held a surprise guerrilla concert. He actively promoted, saying, "Today at 8 p.m., venue Blue Room." He wore a sign with concert details around his neck and roamed the large campus, even entering classrooms where classes were in session.
This guerrilla performance aims to gather an audience of 100. If the target number is not met, the performance will be automatically canceled.
After concluding the promotion, Bobby Kim said, "Honestly, I don't think there will be 100 people; I expect around 9. Even at 7:30 p.m., there wasn't a single person near the venue. I promoted hard and was really glad to meet all of you wonderful people," expressing his nervousness ahead of the performance.
As a result, only 4 audience members were present at Bobby Kim's guerrilla concert, and he couldn't find the words, saying, "4 people... just as I expected." He continued, "I thought it wouldn't be full, but I expected around 14." He added, "Let’s consider today's concert as not happening. I will continue to sing hard and be active. (Even if there are only 4 audience members,) I will be grateful and cherish this experience."
One of the female students, one of the 4, expressed her disappointment, saying, "I really didn't think it would just be us, I thought there would be about 15 people." Another student noted, "There was a large event at school today, and it seems like the students couldn't attend because they were there. I also couldn’t go because of the broadcasting event schedule at school. I'm so disappointed."
Immediately after the broadcast, over 300 comments flooded the YouTube channel. Some commented, "I will never watch this YouTube channel again. Regardless of being an artist or a fan, the ending and content of the video were extremely unpleasant," and "Couldn’t they check the (campus) events?? It’s a lack of ability from the production staff. I immediately disliked the video and won’t recommend this channel," while others pointed out, "Based on this, it's clear that the production team should generally be expelled from the broadcasting industry." Another comment read, "Four people is just ridiculous. There would have been more for busking. I have been a fan of Bobby Kim since the Big King Days. I searched for him on purpose and I hope he doesn’t feel too upset. I’ll support him!!!!" One viewer said, "The production team was quite careless; they should have checked the overlapping schedule with the school. It’s so embarrassing to watch as a fan of Bobby Kim seeing it mocked right from the title."
In response to the fans' reactions, Bobby Kim said, "Hello everyone, this is Bobby! It seems there were many fans who were hurt... I feel touched that there are fans who are worried about me." He added, "I'm completely fine!! It would be boring if everything went well from the start, haha.
