MBC has re-signed contracts with three of the individuals involved in workplace bullying related to the late O Yoanna, excluding individual A.

On the 22nd, an MBC official noted in a currency with OSEN that, "We have signed contracts with three other weathercasters aside from weathercaster A."

They further explained, "Although a formal document regarding the special labor inspection results from the Ministry of Employment and Labor has not yet arrived, actions have been taken based on the related aspects for which there were no significant opinions."

This action follows the Ministry of Employment and Labor's announcement of the special labor inspection results at MBC, and the contract period with the three re-signed individuals is until the end of this year. Initially, the contracts were supposed to be processed by the end of last year, but they were delayed due to the allegations of bullying against the late O Yoanna.

Previously, the deceased had been active as a weathercaster for MBC since 2021 and passed away last September at the age of 28. At the time, the exact cause was not disclosed, but subsequently, handwritten notes, diaries, transcripts, and KakaoTalk conversations were revealed from the deceased's cell phone, bringing the case to light.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor concluded that while the late O Yoanna does not fall under the definition of a worker according to the Labor Standards Act, there were actions that could be considered bullying.

In fact, when the Ministry of Employment and Labor generally determines that someone is 'not a worker,' they do not address the issue of bullying itself. However, in the case of the late O Yoanna, it is reported that the ministry exceptionally concluded that 'there were signs of bullying' considering the seriousness of the matter and social interest.

In response, MBC stated in an official statement, "We take the Ministry of Employment and Labor's determination that there were bullying actions against the late O Yoanna very seriously," and added, "We will take measures against those involved and improve the overall organizational culture."

They further stated, "We will establish a 'Director of Cooperative Cooperation' so that problems occurring between freelancers and non-regular employees can be reported and rectified immediately by the parties involved and a third party," and noted, "Regarding the classification of some freelancers' worker status, we will conduct a legal review and implement appropriate measures as soon as possible."

Additionally, MBC expressed, "We once again apologize to the bereaved family for the unfortunate incident involving the late O Yoanna. We wish for the deceased's soul to rest in peace," and conveyed their apologies through the 'News Desk' broadcast.

Meanwhile, the bereaved family has filed a civil lawsuit against individual A, one of four colleagues accused of workplace bullying last year. MBC terminated the contract with individual A on the 20th.
