Family court judge Jeong Hyun-sook grants appeared on 'You Quiz on the Block' to share various cases and stories from the field related to divorce.
In the episode of tvN's entertainment program 'You Quiz on the Block' aired on the 21st, family court judge Jeong Hyun-sook, known as a divorce specialist, appeared. He explained that judges conducting divorce confirmation procedures at the court refer to them as 'divorce officiants' and added, 'It is a procedure to confirm the intentions of the couple coming for amicable divorce one last time.'
Judge Jeong noted, 'Instead of calling the plaintiff and defendant by their titles, I call them by their names,' and said, 'From this time, the marital relationship of both individuals will be terminated.' He added, 'Recently, it has become common for parents to come along. The couple remains silent, and often, it is the parents on both sides who raise their voices.' He expressed regret, saying, 'It is unfortunate to see conflicts deepening because of the parents.'
He also mentioned the reality that the number of couples living together without marriage registration, that is, common-law marriage-related cases, is increasing. Judge Jeong said, 'As young couples who do not register their marriages are on the rise, disputes over common-law marriage are also increasing.' According to him, an average of about 50 divorce lawsuits and 150 amicable divorces are processed daily.
In the latter part of the broadcast, an extreme case of infidelity was also introduced. Judge Jeong mentioned a case where a father-in-law witnessed the relationship between his daughter-in-law and his youngest son, saying, 'It was revealed that the daughter-in-law also had a relationship with the father-in-law.' Ultimately, the husband found out about this, and the wife left the house, shocking Yoo Jae-suk and Cho Sae-ho.
