Actor Kim Nam-joo unveiled for the first time her dwellings in Samseong-dong, which reflects her 20 years of marriage.
On the 22nd, Kim Nam-joo released a video titled "Welcome to Kim Nam-joo's house (※first public reveal of the house※)" on her YouTube channel "Kim Nam-joo."
In the video, Kim Nam-joo was surprised, saying, "Is it normal for so many people to come?" Kim Nam-joo said, "A day like this comes for me. If the views do well, we should do it," while unveiling for the first time her dwellings in the city that had never been shown before.
First, Kim Nam-joo introduced the flowers placed at the entrance, saying, "I always put them there to signify a welcome. Right now, they are white lilies, and the flower language is good news. I hope there will be good news that our program is doing well and will do well," giving meaning to them. She then unveiled a luxury pouch containing the keys to the 20-year-old house and explained, "Because I like classic things." She humorously revealed that the reason for the magic was that it needed to be labeled as a return.
Kim Nam-joo continued, "The house is very tidy, but there are so many things I need while living here. When the kids were small, the little living room was filled with their things. Now that they are bigger, there were a lot of odds and ends instead of toys, but before the shooting, I pushed everything into another room," showing her human side.
Kim Nam-joo notably said, "The garden is bigger than the house. When building the house, we couldn't tear down the framework, so it was built just like the old dwellings, so it’s not that big. It has been 20 years since this house was built. The exterior is 20 years old, and the living room has been changed once or twice because of the kids." She also shared her deep affection for the home by introducing the book "Kim Nam-joo's House" placed in the living room.
Kim Nam-joo continued to introduce her house. Regarding the flower that is placed only when guests come, she candidly said, "My son has a pollen allergy," and about the golden flower decoration placed on a bookshelf in the living room, she stated, "My husband caused a fuss recently after not buying flowers for Valentine's Day, so he bought me flowers that do not wither as a gift. I like gold, but flowers do not like gold," leading to laughter.
Kim Nam-joo revealed that she chose the dwellings for the fireplace and joked about the sofa facing the garden view, saying, "I had no choice. I followed what I saw in magazines. It has double curtains, but close-ups are prohibited." Kim Nam-joo, who changes the sofa cushions every season, explained, "At Christmas, I use red cushions and set up the tree. I have liked this since I was young. I wasn't wealthy, so maybe that's why. I like it, but my family doesn't care; my son is a bit sensitive and tends to empathize with me."
Kim Nam-joo described a flowerpot stand, saying, "It's something my mom knitted," and she became emotional. Kim Nam-joo said, "Since my mother is elderly and has nothing to do, she sits on the sofa and knits, but she has made so many that there’s no place to put them. Still, there are so many memories. My mom no longer knits. She says her hands tremble. So, this knitted stand is very precious to me."
Kim Nam-joo continued to boast about her son. He introduced a painting, saying, "This is the piece I cherish most in our house; it depicts the duality of the human inner self. This was created by my son Kim Chan-hee when he was in the 3rd grade of elementary school. That's why I love this piece so much." Kim Nam-joo humorously commented, wanting to introduce another piece, "What good does it do to brag about your kids?"
The bathroom was also a showcase of luxury. An antique faucet, which Kim Nam-joo had brought from Paris, caught attention, and wallpapers for the kids who love Hawaii also drew eyes.
Kim Nam-joo stated, "I preferred dwellings over villas and love having a yard and flowers. So I never had the desire to move," adding, "I love being home so much that I tend to fidget. When the kids are away, I think I make kimchi the most. When the kids studying abroad come home, they ask for kimchi stew, kimchi, and budae jjigae the most. At first, it was slightly comfortable, but it didn't last long. As tasks decreased, I felt a little empty. I have gotten used to it now. I frequently go out for drinks with my husband and good friends at restaurants. It would be nice to go to our favorite restaurants together through our channel."
