NewJeans has added a significant award at a Japanese music awards ceremony.
The single album 'OMG' from NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Daniel, Haerin, HAEIN) features the track 'Ditto,' which won the 'Best K-Pop Song in Japan' award at the 'Music Awards Japan 2025' held in Kyoto, Japan, on the 21st.
'Music Awards Japan' is an awards ceremony created in collaboration with five major local organizations, including the Recording Industry Association of Japan, and government agencies. It determines award-winning artists and works by compiling various objective indicators, such as Billboard Japan and Oricon, along with the votes of over 5,000 music industry professionals.
Released on Dec. 19, 2022, 'Ditto' received the award at this year's ceremony, despite being two years and five months old. This reaffirms the enduring popularity of NewJeans' music, which is cherished regardless of time and place.
'Ditto' is a song that has brought NewJeans several new records. With this song, NewJeans entered the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100 just six months after their debut. Additionally, 'Ditto' achieved a remarkable record of 99 consecutive days at No. 1 on the major domestic music site Melon, topping the annual composite chart for 2023, and also won the Excellence Award at that year's Japan Record Awards.
