In the SBS program 'Whenever Possible,' TWICE's Jihyo and Sana captivated Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok with their 'resilient entertainment skills' as 10-year veteran idols.
The 23rd episode of 'Whenever Possible' recorded a 1.4% ratings in the 2049 demographic, claiming the top spot among all Tuesday entertainment and drama programs.
Airing on the 20th, SBS 'Whenever Possible' (directed by Choi Bo-pil, written by Chae Jin-a) is a variety show that gifts luck in the brief moments of time we encounter in our daily lives. In the 23rd episode, the two MCs, Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok, welcomed 'friends of the show' TWICE's Jihyo and Sana, who brought joyful energy by visiting a cafe in Geumho-dong and a snack bar in Geumnam Market.
Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok expressed their delight upon the appearance of Jihyo and Sana, who have already celebrated 10 years since their debut. Jihyo, laughing, remarked, "Time goes by so fast. It feels strange to be in double digits." She added, "Actually, I’ve been doing something continuously for 10 years without any breaks. Recently, I also performed at the Coldplay opening stage," revealing her experience as a seasoned idol. Yoo Jae-suk admired, "In this cutthroat entertainment industry, being in a group for 10 years is remarkable," expressing high expectations for Jihyo and Sana's performances filled with their extensive experience.
The first 'space owner' was a cafe on the street that is Jihyo's regular spot. The space owner, greeting them with a 4-year-old daughter, expressed happiness in being able to share moments together when his daughter is at her most beautiful, earning empathy from 'Na-eun's dad' Yoo Jae-suk. The first game that followed was 'Cup Stack Ping Pong.' Notably, the prize this time was family sneakers, igniting the competitive spirit among the four. Jihyo, initially confident saying, "This game seems a bit silly. I think I can do well," quickly changed her tone upon the game's reveal, exclaiming, "I’m sorry, it’s not silly at all!" which had Yoo Jae-suk bursting into laughter. Sana then chimed in, "I think I can do this?" and as she soon dominated the game hole, she declared, "I'll be the one to stand up first," volunteering for bonus coupon time, which made everyone laugh. After a series of challenges, they succeeded in the first stage. Jihyo, feeling the pressure, asked, "Why am I sweating so much?" ultimately failed in the second stage but calmed her disappointment with a 'Whenever Possible' merchandise gift, stating, "I’ll make sure to visit often (to the cafe)," confirming her status as a regular customer.
Before meeting the next 'space owner,' they took a lunch break. Sana, nervous about the new game experience, remarked, "I’m quite scared~" losing her focus and causing Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok to laugh. Jihyo also expressed, "It’s really different from watching at home. The pressure hits hard," igniting her determination for the upcoming game. At this moment, Jihyo and Yoo Jae-suk shared their drastically different daily lives, with Jihyo saying, "I go for walks a lot. Even if there's nothing to do, I go out to cafes," revealing her love for going out. In contrast, Yoo Jae-suk shared, "I enjoy exercising or just lounging at home. I don’t go out unless there’s a camera. I’ve walked enough while filming," showcasing his committed homebody lifestyle, which made Jihyo laugh. Meanwhile, stories from Jihyo and Sana's trainee days caught attention. When Jihyo reminisced, "Sana could only say 'hello' back then," Sana shared, "It wasn’t easy. I even thought about sneaking home in the early morning. I wanted to go with momo, but I couldn’t because my passport was at the company," revealing her hidden plan to run away, filling the scene with laughter.
The second meeting with a space owner took place at a tteokbokki shop inside Geumnam Market. The space owner, who has maintained the same spot for 13 years, shared a touching story: "A regular customer who has been coming since kindergarten has now grown into an elementary school student and even awarded us a certificate. Sometimes, without noticing, I give them extra." Jihyo, filled with a desire to succeed, quietly placed the bonus coupon dice on the table and immediately apologized, saying, "I’m sorry, that must have looked really bad. I just wanted to do well," which had Yoo Jae-suk in stitches. The game that started with zero bonus coupons was the 'Cheeky Doctor Quiz.' Jihyo humorously requested, "I’m sorry, but could you lower the (game board) a bit faster? I can’t see well, I’m sorry," drawing laughter with her polite complaint, while Sana surprised the production team with a cheat card saying, "But I’m a foreigner?" and impressed Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok. Eventually, Sana exclaimed, "I think I might hyperventilate!" unable to manage her nervousness. By the sixth attempt, they succeeded in the first stage. Jihyo lifted the mood, declaring, "We still have plenty of chances left," while Sana encouraged the others after a series of errors, saying, "You were anxious, right?" boosting Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok's morale. Unfortunately, they ended with disappointing mistakes in the second stage. However, the space owner expressed, "There’s nothing more precious than you visiting us," adding more significance to the precious but small bond.
