Vocalist Choi Jeong-hoon of the band Jannabi reveals behind-the-scenes stories of handwritten letters with Kim Chang-wan from Sanulrim and his lyrical philosophy on 'Radio Star'.
The episode airing today (21st) features a 'final boss' special with Baek Ji-yeon, Hong Hyun-hee, Choi Jeong-hoon, and Min Kyung-ah grants.
On this day, Choi Jeong-hoon livens up the atmosphere with a self-introduction as a 'shy attention seeker'. He will perform the title track 'In the Name of Love!' from his recently released fourth studio album and share behind-the-scenes details of his collaboration with Karina of aespa, amusing everyone by mistakenly referring to her as 'Karina of aespa'.
He draws attention from the start by bringing his newly released album and a short handwritten letter. He notes, 'I gained courage from reading Mr. Kim Chang-wan's letter,' and also reveals a story about a short letter he received from Kim Chang-wan in the past. 'When I sang live on the radio in 2017, he wrote me a note. I made a frame for it and it's being kept,' he shares a special memory.
In particular, he asks, 'Is it okay to sing this much on 'Radio Star'?' as he takes the stage, turning the studio into a 'couch concert'. As he showcases an emotional medley while playing the guitar, everyone was captivated by his sweet tone.
Choi Jeong-hoon highlights his most proud achievement, stating, 'I won two awards at the 2020 Korean Music Awards for 'For the Hesitant Lovers' as 'Song of the Year' and 'Best Modern Rock Song'.
He reveals that he writes most lyrics alone and shares his favorite lyrics such as 'Goodbye Sadness' and 'Dreams, Books, Power, and Walls', delighting listeners with a 'favorite lyrics medley'. He also mentions poet Han Gang’s poetry collection 'I Kept Dinner in the Drawer,' stating, 'I always carry it in my bag and have been inspired by it,' drawing attention.
Choi Jeong-hoon also mentions his time as a trainee under an idol agency before forming Jannabi. He candidly shares, 'When I was 20, I spent about a year and a half as a trainee at FNC Entertainment, but since I was musically heading in a different direction from my N.Flying friends at the time, I left because I couldn't adapt to the team's style.'
Moreover, Choi Jeong-hoon is currently in a public relationship with actress Han Ji-min. There is anticipation for whether he will mention their love story on 'Radio Star'. The show airs tonight at 10:30 p.m.
