Baek Ji-yeon shared her experiences dealing with past rumors.
On the broadcast of MBC 'Radio Star' on the 21st, Baek Ji-yeon, a former MBC announcer, appeared as a guest for the 'Ultimate Champion' special.
Baek Ji-yeon stated that she holds the titles of the first, youngest, and longest-serving host on MBC 'News Desk.' Baek Ji-yeon said, 'I started in 1988. At that time, it was how dare a woman do this. I got the opportunity through an audition and started at 23.'
Baek Ji-yeon mentioned that she worked with former anchors Kang Sung-gu, Chu Seong-chun, and Eom Gi-young. Baek Ji-yeon said, 'There was a company audition, but I was a trainee and did not qualify. I was told to observe the seniors, and when I went, I came in first.'
Baek Ji-yeon said, 'All the staff said it was nonsense and told me to try again. Eventually, they held the overall audition again, and I came in first again, which led me to become an anchor.'
Baek Ji-yeon said, 'Since my last name is Baek, there were rumors that I was the daughter of Baek-gom, a big player in the securities market. There were rumors that I used wealth to push through. I just grew up in an ordinary family,' and noted, 'At that time, there was a lot of opposition in the company. Many said it was too risky and made no sense.'
Baek Ji-yeon said, 'I once resolved to become the leading anchor. Surprisingly, that became medicine rather than poison.' Baek Ji-yeon added, 'Before going to work in the morning, I always prayed and steadied my heart. I've come this far.'
