Freelancer broadcaster Kim Na-jung (33), who was transferred to the prosecution on charges of forced drug administration, has resumed her social media activities after about four months.
On the 20th, Kim Na-jung posted two photos showing her new short haircut along with heart emoticons, without any special explanation on her official social media. Dressed in a white sleeveless outfit exposing her shoulders, she exuded a natural atmosphere while smiling brightly or gazing at the camera. This is her first post since halting her social media activities.
Earlier, Kim Na-jung claimed in January this year that she was "forced to inhale drugs" in the Philippines, but the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency's narcotics investigation unit transferred her without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana use). Kim Na-jung's side has expressed their grievance, stating that she was made to inhale smoke while incapacitated.
The legal representative stated, "Kim Na-jung visited the Philippines to promote beauty and launch her personal brand, and she was forced to inhale drug smoke while having her hands tied and wearing a blindfold by a person born in 1995, referred to as A. A is currently wanted domestically and is said to be unable to return to the country."
The defense noted, "Despite being a victim, Kim Na-jung's previous results, including two hair tests and other detailed examinations, confirmed that she had not used drugs, and she cooperated with all investigations, including voluntary submission of her cell phone and searches of her residence; however, no significant evidence was found. Nonetheless, the police decided to transfer the case based on unilateral reasoning without investigating key witnesses, expressing regret."
They further stated, "There are false accusations circulating online that Kim Na-jung is a 'habitual user' and 'malicious enough to use a syringe,'" reiterating that these claims are "completely unfounded." They also mentioned, "The client is currently undergoing psychiatric treatment and is suffering from extreme distress."
Regarding the prosecution transfer, they stated, "Since the fact of drug use has been confirmed by examination results, we understand the case has been transferred. However, we hope that the examination by the prosecution will prove the coercion factor going forward," suggesting the possibility of no charges.
Meanwhile, Kim Na-jung has also been active in launching her personal underwear brand and social media marketing outside of broadcasting, and she has suspended activities following this incident.
