Member Hyungwon of the 'Trustworthy Listening' group MONSTA X has been selected as the host of an awards ceremony for his first official activity after military discharge.

According to the ASEA organizing committee, Hyungwon will take on the role of MC on the 29th, the second day of the 'Asia Star Entertainer Awards 2025' (ASIA STAR ENTERTAINER AWARDS 2025, hereafter 'ASEA 2025'), which will be held at K Arena Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan, on May 28 and 29.

'ASEA' is an awards ceremony featuring top stars representing Asia, coming together with fans worldwide through music. Hyungwon, who completed his 1 year and 6 months of military service on the 13th, will lead an awards ceremony for the first time in 10 years since his debut through 'ASEA 2025' on the 29th.

Hyungwon debuted as a member of MONSTA X in 2015 and has solidified his position as a 'multifaceted entertainer' by excelling in not only team activities but also acting, producing, DJing, and hosting. In 2023, he formed the unit 'ShownuXHyungwon' with the team's leader Shownu and showcased the power of a 'producing idol' with two self-composed songs, the title track 'Love Me A Little' and the album track 'Roll With Me', from the album 'The Unseen'.

He also shone in entertainment shows. In 2022, Hyungwon garnered public attention by appearing on the YouTube channel 'There's Nothing on the Table' (hereafter 'Cha Jjib Bul'), and before enlisting, launched the solo web entertainment show 'Chae's Drifting', attracting many fans to become interested in him. In particular, the video from his appearance on 'Cha Jjib Bul' has recorded cumulative views of 22.25 million (as of May 20) and continues to receive steady love.

His skills as an MC are also exceptional. Hyungwon, who gained experience by serving as a special MC on various music shows since his debut, showcased his improved hosting skills by serving as the DJ of MBC FM4U's 'Idol Radio Season 2' for about a year from August 2021 to August 2022, and in 2023, he has firmly established himself as a 'veteran MC' by reliably leading the weekly live broadcasts of SBS's 'Inkigayo'.

'ASEA 2025' organizers reportedly recognized Hyungwon's hosting abilities early on and earmarked him as the MC for 'ASEA'. At a recently held free fan event commemorating his discharge, he caught people's attention with his stunning visuals and reliable hosting skills despite his military service hiatus. There is anticipation for Hyungwon's performance as the MC of 'ASEA 2025'.

Hyungwon expressed through his agency Starship Entertainment, "After being discharged last week, I celebrated my 10th anniversary with the members and met with Monbebe (the official fan club name) over the weekend. I am delighted and honored to greet you in this first official external event. I'm a bit nervous and feel some pressure as I'm challenging myself to host an awards ceremony alone without the members for the first time, but I will do my best to ensure it's a ceremony where magnificent artists and audience can enjoy together. I would appreciate your lots of interest and support, even though I might be lacking."

Meanwhile, Hyungwon held a free fan event 'Hyungwon's Greenhouse (Wonder Garden)' on the 17th to meet with fans. MONSTA X, to which Hyungwon belongs, celebrated its 10th anniversary on the 14th and is scheduled to hold a full-group performance 'Connect X' at the KSPO Dome (former Gymnastics Stadium) at Olympic Park in Seoul from July 18 to 20.
