Director Lee Seon-jeong of 'Guitar Man' revealed the casting behind-the-scenes of Kim Sae-ron.
On the 21st, a press conference and media briefing for Kim Sae-ron's final film 'Guitar Man' took place at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul.
'Guitar Man' is a music film that tells the story of a genius guitarist's loss, love, and journey as he seeks hope through music amid harsh realities. The protagonist 'Gi-cheol (Lee Seon-jeong)' is a genius guitarist living a wandering life due to lack of money. Introduced by a friend, 'Gi-cheol (Lee Seon-jeong)' becomes the guitarist for the live club band 'Volcano' and finds hope for the world while sharing ups and downs with members, including keyboardist 'Yujin (Kim Sae-ron)'.
In particular, 'Guitar Man' is receiving significant attention as the tragic story of the late Kim Sae-ron, who played 'Yujin,' has become known to the public, while director Lee Seon-jeong, who played the protagonist Gi-cheol, shared the casting behind-the-scenes of Kim Sae-ron.
On this day, Director Lee said, "Originally, there was another actor who was about to be cast before Sae-ron. However, I thought it would be good to meet Sae-ron one last time, though there were those who opposed it. There are cases where filming has been done but not released. It is true that there were people expressing concerns over the possibility of not being able to release it if issues were not resolved by that time."
He added, "However, during the meeting, Sae-ron showed passion for the film that day. She came prepared having thoroughly reviewed the script, saying she wanted to suggest changes, asking when we could practice together. I thought it was so great."
At the same time, he remarked, "It was really unfortunate. A friend who could appear in better films showed such passion in my film, which made me grateful yet concerned, but I pushed forward with my decision to go with Kim Sae-ron. I think it was because of her bright smile that I made that choice."
Meanwhile, the film 'Guitar Man' is set to be released on the 30th.
