The six representatives of the entertainment industry who united through Channel A's 'Brain Academy' revealed an interview filled with sincerity.
As Channel A's 'Brain Academy,' a knowledge-charged quiz show featuring high-level quizzes posed by Korea's top scholars, is set to premiere at 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, these six individuals showcased an interview that raised expectations for the main broadcast.
First, the 'big brother' of the 'Brain Six' group, Jun Hyun-moo, said, "One of the keywords that come to mind when you see me is 'knowledge variety show.' Many are still curious about when we will do 'Brain Sex Age - Problematic Men' again. I’m so glad to do knowledge variety shows again." He further added, "When we did 'Problematic Men' in the past, there was pressure, but 'Brain Academy' has a concept of collaboration with the members, so it's more comfortable. Since we will be asking for common knowledge and humanities that we need to know in life, I think we will enjoy it even more." Ha Seok-jin, who collaborated with Jun Hyun-moo on 'Problematic Men,' also remarked, "These days, there's a high level of dependence on AI, so I’m grateful that I have a good opportunity to think again and gain knowledge."
Lee Sang-yeob stated, "I am trying to read and absorb everything to not disappoint those who cast me as a team member," revealing his actual efforts. Yoon So-hee expressed, "This is my first time in a knowledge variety show that requires collective intelligence, so I’m really excited. I will do my best," while smiling. Hwang Je-seong, who gained unexpected attention for his academic talents, such as being sixth in school and scoring a top grade in math on the college entrance exam from Sungkyunkwan University, shared, "This is my first attempt at this genre. I’m curious about how I will play. It will be challenging if I’m alone in an unfamiliar situation, but I’ll navigate through it with the team." Gwe-do stated, "I will find a winning strategy through scientific thinking and ensure everyone can enjoy it."
In the future, on 'Brain Academy,' they will face knowledge quiz challenges against scholars from various fields. When questions about their strongest areas of knowledge arose, Jun Hyun-moo replied, "As I age, I have become more interested in history," while also acknowledging, "Since I am a former announcer, I have an interest in 'language.' Ha Seok-jin, Gwe-do, and Yoon So-hee excel in science, so I will leave that to them and work hard on the humanities with Hwang Je-seong and Lee Sang-yeob." Ha Seok-jin, a graduate of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Hanyang University, noted, "I have an interest in tech and the latest technology trends, so I think I can excel in that field." Lee Sang-yeob, who holds a Level 1 in Korean history certification and is recognized as a history expert, said, "I want to thrive in areas like history, politics, and economics that require a humanities approach." Yoon So-hee, who graduated early from a science high school and majored in biotechnology at KAIST, expressed, "I think I can contribute sufficiently. I excel in thinking about problems from non-obvious perspectives. I will show that on the show," while her eyes sparkled. Gwe-do, a 'science communicator,' shared, "I believe I am confident in the field of space. I will do my best to approach the truth in areas related to science and technology."
After completing their first recording recently, the six members displayed their unfiltered opinions about the 'promising prospect' and 'unexpected weak link' within the team. Jun Hyun-moo pointed out, "Surprisingly, the promising prospect seems to be Hwang Je-seong. He has been overshadowed by his performances on 'Comedy Big League' and impressions of Lee Kyung-young, but it turns out he has an incredible brain. Given that he has conducted many lecture programs, his background knowledge is also rich. Although it was a bit hard to accept, I couldn't believe he was such a profound thinker. I think Hwang Je-seong will be re-evaluated through this program." Notably, Jun Hyun-moo surprised everyone by naming the 'science communicator' Gwe-do as the unexpected weak link, saying, "Through the recording, I found that although Gwe-do talks a lot, there were areas where he lacked focus. He doesn't know about fields other than science at all but is adept at pretending to know by adding scientific knowledge. I plan to tease Gwe-do thoroughly," he jokingly dissed, emanating their 'close friend chemistry.'
Ha Seok-jin, the winner of 'Devil's Plan' season 1, said, "The promising prospect is the young brain, Yoon So-hee!" referring to Yoon So-hee, who is currently making a strong impact in 'Devil's Plan' season 2. Yoon So-hee, who is receiving attention from Ha Seok-jin, replied, "The promising prospect is Jun Hyun-moo," stating, "He has a wealth of experience and knowledge." Hwang Je-seong also mentioned, "The promising prospect is Jun Hyun-moo," then added, "The weak link is Lee Sang-yeob. We have a friendship, but since this program isn’t solely focused on history, he may crumble in other areas," causing laughter with his 'brutally honest comment.' On the other hand, Gwe-do, who was mentioned as a 'weak link' by Jun Hyun-moo and Lee Sang-yeob, coolly acknowledged, "The unexpected weak link is indeed me," and interpreted, "Yoon So-hee has recently graduated, so she probably has the least brain atrophy, which makes me excited," showcasing his portrayal as a 'science communicator.'
Finally, when asked, "Which top scholar would you like to meet to raise questions on 'Brain Academy'?" all six provided unique answers. Jun Hyun-moo said, "Professor Yuval Noah Harari," adding, "I want to answer questions based on his book." Ha Seok-jin expressed, "I would like to meet Elon Musk." Lee Sang-yeob mentioned, "The history storyteller Sun Kim and political science doctor Kim Ji-yoon." Yoon So-hee shared, "I have been consistently mentioning Professor Jang Hong-je; it would also be great to see professors I have liked, like Kim Kyung-il and Kim Sang-wook," while smiling. Hwang Je-seong stated, "I have an interest in criminal psychology, so I would like to meet Professor Kwon Il-yong," and Gwe-do expressed his desire, saying, "If Professor Choi Jae-cheon, a scientist for scientists, appears, we will learn a lot."
Already exuding 'close friend chemistry,' the knowledge-charged quiz show 'Brain Academy' featuring Jun Hyun-moo, Ha Seok-jin, Lee Sang-yeob, Yoon So-hee, Hwang Je-seong, and Gwe-do will premiere at 10 p.m. on the 29th (Thursday).
