In the KBS2 show 'Study and Play,' 'first-generation idol' Moon Hee-joon of H.O.T. and his daughter, 'Jam Jam' Moon Hee-yul, showcased their 'heavenly idol parent-child DNA' with a hard carry.
On the broadcast of KBS2's variety show 'Study and Play' episode 8, aired on the 19th (Monday), the three MCs for intergenerational integration, Kang Ho-dong, Kim Ho-young, and Lee Soo-yeon, were joined by Kim Jeong-tae and his son Kim Si-hyeon (6th grade), Shin Hyun-joon and his sons Shin Min-jun (3rd grade) & Shin Ye-jun (1st grade), Kim Byung-hyun and his sons Kim Tae-yoon (5th grade) & Kim Ju-seong (2nd grade), Lee Ha-jung's son Jeong Si-wook (5th grade) & daughter Jeong Yu-dam (prep 1st grade), as well as Moon Hee-joon and daughter Moon Hee-yul (2nd grade), Shin Sung-woo and his son Shin Tae-oh (2nd grade), and Kim Ga-yeon and her daughter Im Ha-ryeong (4th grade), making a total of seven families.challenge quiz.
During the broadcast, Moon Hee-joon's daughter Moon Hee-yul, who appeared on the show after a long time, captivated viewers with her remarkable growth. At 9 years old and now in 2nd grade, Moon Hee-yul drew attention as Moon Hee-joon remarked, "She has fair skin and big eyes like me. She looks like her mother, so I don't think she'll gain weight. She definitely has great genes for being an idol." Hee-yul, who dreams of being an idol, showcased her dance talent with cover dances, including her father's hit song 'Candy' and IVE's 'Rebel Heart', radiating charm like a fairy, bringing smiles to the viewers. She later teamed up with Lee Ha-jung's daughter Yu-dam for a duet cover dance of 'Rebel Heart', and while watching, Moon Hee-joon expressed, "It would be amazing if the two kids were members of the same group within ten years."
As study time began, the first segment was 'Physical Quiz - Protect the Balloons,' a game where parents and children compete in pairs to pop the opposing family's balloons, while avoiding popping the balloons of their own children as an unspoken rule. Among them, the Moon Hee-joon family faced off against the Kim Jeong-tae family, and during the heated exchange, Moon Hee-joon sparked a stir by stepping on the balloon of Kim Jeong-tae's son Si-hyeon. Si-hyeon's dismayed expression, trusting his uncle, prompted other parents to voice their complaints, while Moon Hee-joon, choosing the desire to win over being generous, said, "I'm really sorry, Si-hyeon," while covering his face, drawing laughter. Soon after, the Moon Hee-joon family faced the Kim Byung-hyun family in the finals, where Kim Byung-hyun ruthlessly popped Hee-yul's balloon, ultimately securing victory, leaving Moon Hee-joon's predicament comically entertaining.
Meanwhile, a 6th-grade math problem presented a challenge beyond expectations, bringing humiliation to the parents. Moon Hee-joon attracted attention by revealing his educational philosophy regarding children's 'number sense.' He noted, "You need to be able to see the contract ratio," adding, "The most important thing is to know how to calculate, 'If I divide it 6 to 4 but take away 3.3%, how much goes into my account?'" thus enhancing the comedic undertone of the true idol's advance learning class. Additionally, through his unreserved personal talents, Moon Hee-joon provided advance learning for aspiring idols, performing the 'butt dance' he showcased during his debut in 1996 to obtain quiz hints, demonstrating the entertaining charm fitting for a heavenly idol.
Meanwhile, Hee-yul showcased her impressive and lovable charm without hesitation. During a 4th-grade social problem, when an opportunity arose for parents and children to discuss an answer together, an excited Hee-yul displayed her quirky imagination by suggesting an answer to Moon Hee-joon. However, Moon Hee-joon dismissed Hee-yul's answer as unreasonable, insisting on his own, even though Hee-yul's answer was indeed correct. As Moon Hee-joon couldn't hide his apology, Hee-yul, who had a gloomy expression due to disappointment, soon brightened up, firmly standing up to offer her father a comforting hug, creating a warm moment. Ultimately, during an OX quiz where parents and children participated together, she displayed her competitive spirit by declaring a one-on-one battle with her father, surviving till the end alone without Moon Hee-joon, thereby being reborn as the 'one-shot fairy.'
Meanwhile, the final problem presented a question that could highlight the 'idol power' of Moon Hee-joon and Moon Hee-yul at its peak. The special question from MC Soo-yeon was about 'after-school activities,' a quiz where elementary students had to identify the singer and title based solely on the explanation of K-POP dance moves learned after school. The question provided that day was IVE's 'Rebel Heart,' and Hee-yul, who had performed the cover dance during the opening, could barely contain her excitement. Amid this, Moon Hee-joon shouted out the answer, 'IVE's Label Heart,' triggering a pronunciation issue that elicited laughter. When Lee Ha-jung corrected him, saying, 'It's IVE's Rebel Heart,' Moon Hee-joon pleaded, 'I was talking about this!' Eventually, MC Kang Ho-dong demanded spelling, and Moon Hee-joon offered the nonsensical answer 'Label Heart,' eliciting bursts of laughter. Nevertheless, despite his humiliating answer, Hee-yul, unfazed, teamed up with MC Soo-yeon and Yu-dam to upgrade their performance of 'Rebel Heart,' leaving everyone smiling.
