After surpassing the critical seven years and successfully renewing their contract, the group that has dropped the '(girl)' and announced a new start described their future goals.

The group (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Ugi, Shuhua) held a press conference on the release of their mini album 'We are' at the Chosun Palace Seoul Gangnam in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, on the 19th.

The group has been loved for hit songs starting with their debut track 'LATATA,' followed by 'Oh my god,' 'DUMDi DUMDi,' 'Spark,' 'TOMBOY,' 'Nxde,' and 'Queencard.' Last year, they topped domestic and international music charts with the title track 'Super Lady' from their second studio album '2' (Two) and created a sensation with the included track 'I absolutely hate being sick' (Fate). They continued to strengthen their position as a 'global music powerhouse' by sweeping the summer with the title track 'Klaxon' from their mini album 'I SWAY.'

'We are' is a new album released about 10 months after the mini album 'I SWAY' released last July. It is highly anticipated as it comes after the group won a grand prize at a music awards ceremony seven years after their debut, and after all members renewed their contracts with CUBE Entertainment last December.

Regarding the name change, Miyeon said, "I found it strange that there was '(girl)' in parentheses since debut. I mentioned that when the name became more known and we improved, we should drop it. I think it feels like we found our name since we have been introducing ourselves as 'the group.' I am happy that we can start anew with the name ‘the group’ while renewing our contract and releasing a new album. Many people were confused. It would be nice if you could call us simply as 'the group.'"

Ugi noted, "Since it’s a name we've used for seven years, I often make mistakes when saying it in English or another language. I wanted to give the public the feeling of a rebranding with a new name since we are now starting fresh after our renewal. I would appreciate it if you could comfortably call us 'the group.'"

Meanwhile, the group's mini album 'We are' will be released on various music sites at 6 p.m. on the 19th.
