Actor Kim Soo-hyun is facing a lawsuit for damages in Taiwan amounting to about 6 billion won.
According to the Taiwanese media Sanli News on the 17th, Kim Soo-hyun's advertising contracts were suspended in Taiwan after allegations arose regarding his relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron, who was a minor, and it is reported that three advertisers will file for damages against him, with the total compensation amounting to 1.27 billion New Taiwan dollars (approximately 5.8 billion won).
In particular, Taiwan's Seven Eleven, which collaborated with Kim Soo-hyun, suffered significant damage, with losses exceeding 100 million New Taiwan dollars (approximately 4.6 billion won), and it is reported that Seven Eleven is planning to seek damages from Kim Soo-hyun.
Initially, Kim Soo-hyun was invited by Taiwan's Seven Eleven to visit Taiwan in March to attend events during the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival, where he was scheduled to hold a finale performance as a guest and a solo fan meeting, but he ultimately announced the cancellation five days before the event. Additionally, several products from brands collaborating with Kim Soo-hyun, such as food and photo cards, were also scheduled for release but did not make it to the market.
Kim Soo-hyun is also facing the risk of being sued by advertisers domestically. According to reports from various media, companies A and B, which had advertising contracts with Kim Soo-hyun, recently filed lawsuits for the return of modeling fees and damages against Kim Soo-hyun and his agency Gold Medalist. The lawsuit amount from companies A and B is about 3 billion won, and it is reported that other companies, including company C, are also considering filing lawsuits.
Meanwhile, following the death of the late Kim Sae-ron, Kim Soo-hyun is facing allegations based on claims from the bereaved family that he had been in a relationship with the deceased since she was a minor and that he pressured her regarding debt repayment. In response, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference emphasizing that these allegations are "completely unfounded" and sought to clarify the suspicions, filing a lawsuit against the bereaved family and a YouTube channel for around 12 billion won.
