An individual who rescued 34 people during the Yeongdeok forest fire disaster will appear on "Anything Goes".
On the KBS Joy show "Anything Goes" episode 317, airing today (19th) at 8:30 p.m., a person who contributed to the rescues during the Yeongdeok forest fire disaster will be granted along with the individual they are working with.
In a situation where a large-scale disaster occurred due to a forest fire that started in Uiseong, dozens of elderly residents from a coastal village in Yeongdeok were rescued with the efforts of foreign workers, which was also mentioned in the news, prompting Seo Jang-hoon and Lee Sugeun to recognize it immediately, saying, "We saw it in the newspaper."
"We rescued 34 people," noted the story's subject, as the MCs and the production team all applauded. In response, Seo Jang-hoon asked, "Shouldn't they be granted permanent residency for this?" and the individual who appeared with him said, "I received an F-2 visa, which is equivalent to permanent residency, on the day of filming," explaining that "the F-2 visa is an unlimited stay visa, with no restrictions on occupation or duration."
Originally, they had to return to their home country after the visa period of three years expired, but due to this incident, they received Korea's unlimited stay visa. In response, Lee Sugeun asked, "So, you're unable to return home because of the visa?" and expressed concern, saying, "I was inclined to stay in Korea, but I have not been able to bring it up with my family."
When asked to explain the situation at the time before giving advice, the individual stated, "There was no emergency evacuation order, but due to the sudden strong winds while we were on standby, the fire began to engulf the village and we started to become isolated." They went on to explain how, as personnel were deployed to contain the flames, the story's subject and the individual teamed up to use a private leisure boat to reach the scene and began the rescue.
The individual also shared, "The fire was frightening, but there were many people in the village, and I thought we couldn’t let anyone get hurt, so I participated in the rescue," continuing with their words in awkward Korean.
Lee Sugeun and Seo Jang-hoon commented, "It must have been terrifying, but in a situation like that, you can't easily follow along," as they expressed gratitude once again, saying, "Thank you to both of you."
