(Following the second interview) Jo Bo-ah of 'Dear Hongrang' shared her chemistry with Lee Jae-wook.
On the 19th, an interview with actress Jo Bo-ah from the Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang' took place at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The Netflix series 'Dear Hongrang' (written by Kim Jin-ah, directed by Kim Hong-seon), which premiered on the 16th, is a mystery melodrama that depicts the complex feelings developing between Hongrang, the son of the greatest merchant of Joseon who returns after 12 years with amnesia, and his half-sister, Jae-i, who is suspicious of his true identity.
In the series, Jo Bo-ah plays the role of half-sister Jae-i, who desperately searches for her brother, and she had to showcase the mysterious relationship and emotions with Lee Jae-wook, who plays Hongrang, the lost son of 'Minsangdan' who returns with all memories erased and secrets.
When asked about the difficulties related to this, Jo Bo-ah recalled, "At first, I was solely focused on finding my brother and immersed in my doubts about him. From the middle onward, as I developed compassion and empathy for this character who might be Hongrang, I talked a lot with the director and Je-wook. There were parts where the emotional expression in each shot had to be detailed, so we filmed it in a challenging yet enjoyable way."
She also shared her chemistry with Lee Jae-wook, saying, "Lee Jae-wook is a passionate actor with a lot of ambition. He has a good attitude towards the other staff, leading a lot during filming and helping to make it a supportive environment."
She added, "Since our work had to be filmed in dangerous places, safety was a priority, and Je-wook helped a lot in that area, making it possible to create synergy while acting together."
When asked who approached first on set, she replied, "It wasn't about who approached first. He has such a good personality. I also approach well, and if someone is more reserved, I become cautious, but Je-wook was so good at reaching out that we quickly became friendly."
In particular, she said, "At first, I would call him Je-wook, Rang, Hongrang, but by the end, I called him 'angel' because he was so kind and easy to get close to." She added, "I think he was indifferent to that. However, he only referred to me as 'noona.'"
