Soyeon of (G)I-DLE talked about the conditions for re-contracting.

(G)I-DLE (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Wugi, Shuhua) held a press conference for the release of their mini album 'We are' at the Chosun Palace Seoul Gangnam in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 19th.

(G)I-DLE has been loved for their hit songs including 'LATATA,' which was unveiled on May 2, 2018, 'Oh my god,' 'DUMDi DUMDi,' 'Fire,' 'TOMBOY,' 'Nxde,' and 'Queencard.' Last year, they topped domestic and international music charts with the title track 'Super Lady' from their second studio album '2' and triggered a reverse run with the track 'I hate being hurt.' They solidified their position as a 'global music powerhouse' by sweeping the summer with the title track 'Klaxon' from their mini album 'I SWAY.'

'We are' is a new album being released about 10 months after the mini album 'I SWAY' that was released last July. There are high expectations as this album comes after the members won a grand prize at a music awards ceremony after seven years and re-signed with CUBE Entertainment last December.

Soyeon noted about her short haircut, "When people ask why I did it, I just say because, and this time it's the same. I've cut my hair short for no reason and suddenly gone blonde before. I like to have hair that fits the album, so I thought this short cut would suit the song. I had some fears. I was worried because my hair is short, and it felt like I had too little hair after cutting it, but now I’m satisfied."

Additionally, Soyeon said, "Instead of helping with the creative process during re-contracting, simply achieving the re-contracting itself was such great happiness. It allows us to be together once more. It's not an easy process to gather. In a way, it helped with our creativity. It became a moment for us to stick together and encouraged us to work hard. While it wasn’t helpful because of the conditions, it might be advantageous to the artist, but if the company's conditions deteriorate, we can't survive, so we re-signed under conditions that allow us to work hard together."

Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE's mini album 'We are' will be released on various music streaming sites at 6 p.m. on the 19th.
