Wookie of (G)I-DLE apologized for comments about concert tickets.
(G)I-DLE (Miyeon, Minnie, Soojin, Wookie, Shuhua) held a press conference for the release of their mini album 'We are' on the 19th at the Chosun Palace Seoul Gangnam in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
(G)I-DLE gained popularity with hit songs such as 'LATATA,' which debuted on May 2, 2018, followed by 'Oh my god,' 'DUMDi DUMDi,' 'Fire,' 'TOMBOY,' 'Nxde,' and 'Queencard.' Last year, they topped domestic and international music charts with the title track 'Super Lady' from their second studio album '2' and created a resurgence in popularity with the track 'I hate being sick' (Fate). They continued to solidify their position as a 'global music powerhouse' with the title track 'Klaxon' from their mini album 'I SWAY.'
'We are' is a new album released about 10 months after the mini album 'I SWAY,' which was released last July. As they won the grand prize at a music awards show seven years after their debut and released a new album following the re-signing of all members with CUBE Entertainment in December last year, expectations are high.
Earlier, Wookie expressed frustration in a web entertainment show about having to personally purchase tickets with her own money to gift friends for a concert.
In response, Wookie said, “I am grateful and sorry. When I go on variety shows, there’s a tense atmosphere to be funny. That day, I was really excited. I hope there were no misunderstandings. It’s not that I don’t consider the fans. I just wanted to play a joke on the company. Of course, a concert cannot be held without fans. I didn’t mean to criticize the company, but I wanted to joke around. I hope the public doesn’t misunderstand. I don’t know why that is.”
Wookie also noted, “I’m sorry if any fans were hurt. I will be more careful with my words in the future.” Soojin conveyed, “Wookie is a friend who feels sorry to the fans. I think she wanted to do her best on the variety show. I hope people see it kindly.”
Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE's mini album 'We are' will be released on various music streaming sites at 6 p.m. on the 19th.
