(Following Interview 3) Actress Go Youn-jung mentioned her chemistry with Jung Jun-won in 'Resident Playbook.'
Recently, a round interview with actress Go Youn-jung, a star of the tvN drama 'Resident Playbook,' was held at a cafe in Seocho District, Seoul.
The series 'Resident Playbook,' which concluded on the 18th, is a spinoff of the popular drama 'Hospital Playlist.'
Go Youn-jung plays the role of first-year resident Oh Yi-young, who received a hot response for her romance with Jung Jun-won, played by Koo Do-won.
Regarding the hot response, Go Youn-jung said, “I didn’t expect it at all. Everyone said, ‘Who would have thought Oh Yi-young and Koo Do-won would become a couple!’ The writers said they didn’t know either.”
She continued, “Of course, I thought romance would always work. I didn't expect it to go this far,” and laughed while adding, “There’s hardly any romance within the drama, right? So it must have felt like a refreshing change, like, ‘I guess the romance is here?’ I think people liked the relationship between an active female character and the No Fun Routine Man, as well as the complicated familial relationship.”
In response to the question, ‘What attracted Oh Yi-young to Koo Do-won?’ Go Youn-jung explained, “Isn’t there a saying? A first-year resident falls for anyone who just offers them a straw for their yogurt. There’s a sense of comfort or support that can grow and resonate, and that might have been there too. Also, when Oh Yi-young was often misunderstood and distrusted by Dr. Myung-won, it was Koo who calmly and maturely addressed those situations and helped her. There’s respect for a senior and gratitude towards Koo. Even if they have a long-standing acquaintance, that one point could definitely be enough to fall for someone.”
She also stated, “It's a relationship of in-laws, and seeing each other’s everyday looks can be charming if they do their jobs well. If it’s a senior, they appear even more professional, which might be attractive.”
In particular, in response to some viewers saying, ‘It’s too bad for Oh Yi-young,’ she laughed and said, “The drawing styles (of the characters) are all so different, right? I didn’t notice while filming and had no idea there would be such a reaction.” She added cautiously, “Oh Yi-young, beyond her appearance, is gentle and strong, and has fallen for that senior kind of vibe, so I wasn't thinking at all while acting.”
Go Youn-jung also revealed her ideal type: “I value a sense of humor more than appearance. There are many types of comedic exchanges, and while it would be nice if we click on jokes, it should not cross certain lines. I think we like similar boundaries. On the other hand, I’m not really that detail-oriented. It seems that a detailed person would be nice. (Generally) I feel a lot of fun when we talk.”
