In 'The househusbands 2,' a surprise update on Ko Ji-yong, a former member of Sechs Kies, was revealed. He is currently leading a new life with a thorough diet and health management after overcoming shocking health rumors.
Ko Ji-yong granted on KBS2's entertainment show 'The househusbands 2' aired on the 17th.
That day, Ko Ji-yong drew attention by revealing his hospitalization two years ago and the completely changed lifestyle since then.
Ko Ji-yong debuted as a member of Sechs Kies 28 years ago, gaining attention for his natural prince-like good looks. However, Sechs Kies declared disbandment after a short three-year activity. Sixteen years have passed since then, and he also became a hot topic for meeting members on 'Infinite Challenge' after a long time.
Unlike the members who continued their activities, rumors regarding Ko Ji-yong's health emerged as he returned to his daily life and chose a different path. He became noticeably thinner, which caught attention. Ko Ji-yong revealed, "Overall, my liver function declined, and my liver levels rose sharply, leading to hospitalization," surprising those around him with his weight dropping to 64 kg at 180 cm tall. Afterward, following a doctor's recommendation, he practiced abstaining from alcohol for six months, and he now looks much healthier.
Particularly, Ko Ji-yong's "small portion diet" drew attention. The sight of a small dish with just a few side dishes resembled an idol's diet. He confessed to having a restrained eating habit, saying, "If I eat a lot, I feel sleepy," and displayed his thorough health management by bringing out various health supplements such as probiotics, liver protectants, vitamins, and minerals. The statement, "Now that I am older, I have to take care of myself," was particularly impressive.
He later noted, "I received personal training for two years," and attempted push-ups but stopped at just two, causing laughter, and he also exhibited his quirky charm by dropping a large snack box. Eun Ji-won, upon seeing this, remarked, "It's better if he doesn't work," making everyone laugh, and child actor Kim Tae-yeon commented, "He looks like a paper doll," drawing bursts of laughter.
Meanwhile, Ko Ji-yong is currently operating a shabu-shabu restaurant in Asan, Chungcheongnam-do. He revealed, "After getting sick, I became interested in diet and started working in the food service industry," and also disclosed that he had suffered stress from past real estate and bidet businesses, which led him to take psychiatric medication.
It has been 28 years since Ko Ji-yong debuted with Sechs Kies. Having returned to daily life after his activities, he is now focused on self-management for his health and life, living his life off-stage in a different way than before.
