Park Soo-hong and Kim Da-ye's couple successfully became pregnant through in vitro fertilization after overcoming infertility, and they received many congratulations after giving birth to their daughter, Jai, in October last year. Park Soo-hong, filled with the joy of becoming a father, appears on KBS2's "The Return of Superman," showcasing the birthing process and his role as a father, and he was recently selected as the MC for TV CHOSUN's "Our Baby Has Arrived."
"Our Baby Has Arrived" (directed by Lee Seung-hoon and Kim Joon, written by Jang Joo-yeon) is the country's first birthing relay variety show, broadcasting the joyful moments that can only be felt on the day of birth, celebrating life and the precious journey leading up to childbirth, especially amidst the declining birth rate.
Park Soo-hong, who is working as "Soonpung Duo" with Yang Se-hyung, is showing sincerity with empathy and passionate support at the birthing sites. His authenticity was revealed in the second episode aired on the 16th. On that day, Park Soo-hong visited a mother expecting triplets. On the way to meet the mother, he informed Yang Se-hyung, who has zero knowledge about childbirth, that the risk rate for triplets is 37 times higher than for singletons, explaining, "(Triplets) come out in 10 months. If it exceeds 10 months, it's dangerous," and expressed concern about how critical the mother might be upon reaching the "High-Risk Maternal and Neonatal Center."
The parents of triplets, who already have one child, planned for a second. However, one of the fertilized eggs, which was an fraternal twin, split into two, leading to a very rare natural conception of triplets. Despite being 31 weeks pregnant with blessings, the triplet mother had already been experiencing uterine contraction symptoms since the 26th week. Ultimately, she struggled to save the babies while going back and forth between the intensive care unit and receiving uterine contraction suppressants. Generally, triplets are delivered between 34 and 35 weeks. The mother expressed maternal love, stating, "They say one day in a mother's womb is equivalent to seven days in an incubator," pledging to hold on.
Among all this, Park Soo-hong expressed his frustration upon hearing that coverage for fetal insurance was not available. He criticized, "The country should protect us. They should ensure that families with multiples can safely enroll in insurance and give birth," resonating with the viewers.
On the 6th day of the 32nd week, the triplet mother's cesarean section was scheduled, and the delivery of the triplets was completed with a total of 16 medical staff including obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and nurses. However, since the three babies were born at 32 weeks, although they are breathing independently, they are suffering from "neonatal respiratory distress syndrome" and there is a diagnosis that the second child may require surgery due to a malformation in the "umbilical cord mesentery."
Amid the difficulties of twin pregnancies, childbirth, and parenting, Park Soo-hong, alongside Yang Se-hyung, generously contributed to the hospital and childbirth expenses. Having developed a unique bond with the couple while experiencing the process of becoming a father, Park Soo-hong expressed his support for the couple, who are role models in an era of low birth rates, as a father of one child before being a program MC. Yang Se-hyung also continued to share his thoughts as he prepared to become a "desired dad."
Meanwhile, the first domestic birthing relay variety show, TV CHOSUN's "Our Baby Has Arrived," which directly visits the birthing scene to support and celebrate the birth of new life, airs every Friday at 10 p.m.
