“The support from the fans resonated in my heart. It is the happiest time.” Jin of BTS swept the global major charts with his mini album 'Echo' and shared this during his first live performance of new songs in front of fans, known as ARMY.
On the 17th, Jin of BTS held an offline event titled 'Don’t Say You Love Me @Seongsu' at Anderson in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, to commemorate the release of his new album. Fans who couldn’t attend the event were able to watch his performance through the global superfan platform Weverse and TikTok Live.
Jin passionately performed the title track 'Don’t Say You Love Me' as the first song of the day. His delicate voice flowing over the clean sound captivated the fans. After the live performance, Jin playfully mentioned, “The mic stand was about 0.3cm too high,” and he received cheers when he once again performed live on the spot at the fans' request.
He then showcased a variety of musical colors by performing tracks like 'A Journey with Clouds' and 'To My Today,' while also taking time to answer fans' questions throughout the performance.
Jin shared the backstory of the track, saying, “While working on 'A Journey with Clouds,' I thought of clouds and a child, considering them as me and the fans.” He also noted regarding his first solo fan concert tour, starting at the Goyang Sports Complex auxiliary stadium on June 28-29, “I plan to create a fun structure without being tied down to a format.” Especially towards the end of the performance, Jin expressed sincerely, “The support from the fans resonated in my heart. It is the happiest time,” adding, “Thanks to you ARMY, I get to be a singer, make music, and perform. Thank you for existing,” which moved everyone present.
The 'resonance' created by Jin and ARMY is spreading across the globe. According to the latest charts on the world’s largest music streaming platform, Spotify, the title track 'Don’t Say You Love Me' has surpassed 3.62 million streams just on the day of its release (the 16th), marking its entry at 9th place on the 'Daily Top Songs Global' chart. In addition, most of the album's tracks, including ‘Nothing Without Your Love,’ ‘Loser (feat. YENA),’ ‘Rope It,’ ‘A Journey with Clouds,’ and ‘Background,’ have positioned themselves on this chart, confirming Jin's powerful presence. Jin's popularity shone in Japan as well, with 'Don’t Say You Love Me' shooting to 1st place on the Oricon 'Daily Digital Single Ranking' (as of May 16), proving his heated local popularity.
