NewJeans has been recognized as one of the most innovative and influential artists under 21 in the music industry for the second consecutive year.
Billboard announced the '21 Under 21' list on its website on the 16th (local time). NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, HAEIN) confirmed their consistent presence by being included in this list again this year, following last year.
'21 Under 21' is selected by Billboard each year, considering various indicators including album and song sales, streaming size, social media exposure, and radio/TV reach, as well as the overall impact on the industry.
Billboard highly praised NewJeans for their consistent influence, highlighting their second EP 'Get Up,' which secured the number one spot on the Billboard 200 in 2023 and sold an additional 227,000 copies (according to Luminate), ranking third on the world album chart and fiftieth in the institutional sector for top album sales by the end of 2024.
In addition to 'Get Up,' NewJeans demonstrated their strength last year by placing both their double single 'How Sweet' and their Japanese debut single 'Supernatural' in the 'million seller' category. The title tracks for each single, 'How Sweet' and 'Supernatural,' entered the Billboard 'Global 200' for 13 weeks and 10 weeks, respectively, achieving outstanding results on various major charts. Furthermore, NewJeans proved their powerful draw by entering the Tokyo Dome in Japan in the shortest period (1 year and 11 months) among overseas artists.
Based on this popularity and achievement, NewJeans swept several awards, including the grand prize, at major year-end award ceremonies in South Korea and received the 'Excellent Work Award' at Japan's premier music awards, the 'Japan Record Awards,' for the second consecutive year.
