"If we meet 100 times, we greet 100 times," singer Baek Ji-young was astonished by the new greeting culture of junior idol singers.
On the 17th, a video titled 'Baek Ji-young asking 17-year-old idol members about financial management (P1Harmony, stock talk)' was released on her personal YouTube channel. In the video, Baek Ji-young shared updates with Theo and Intak from the idol group P1Harmony.
On this day, Baek Ji-young revealed her connection with Han Sung-ho, the general producer of P1Harmony's agency, FNC Entertainment, and laughed, saying, "General producer? I feel it's strange. If you're a chairman, you're a chairman, and if you're a CEO, you're a CEO, but what is a general producer?"
He noted, "When the two were born, general producer, it was a tough time and my lyrics writing days; I also debuted and met during a dark time. In fact, I didn’t expect Han Sung-ho to do this well," adding to the laughter.
Upon hearing P1Harmony's greeting method, Baek Ji-young was surprised by their relaxed greeting compared to other idols she met in the waiting room, who were full of energy. In response, Theo and Intak said, "We also greeted loudly when we debuted," and Baek Ji-young replied, "But when you’re in the waiting room and they open the door to greet you, it’s too burdensome. But if we greet simply, I think I could say, 'Oh, nice to meet you.'"
In response, P1Harmony members remarked, "Originally, the company trains us to be more vigorous and greet loudly than anyone else. But during our second comeback, we realized," adding, "When we go to music shows, if we meet 100 times, we greet 100 times that way. It’s an unspoken rule," and "As the years go by, P1Harmony will disappear, and it will just be ‘Hello.’ But that’s actually comfortable. It’s easier to hear that in the waiting room."
Baek Ji-young expressed surprise, saying, "It wasn't like that in our days. We all know each other; we didn’t greet like that." To this, P1Harmony said, "It seems there are just too many idols now. With too many companies and too many idols, it looks like greeting is the only way to get noticed," adding, "We also get to think again about what we are doing this for."
Meanwhile, P1Harmony shared the story behind their performance of Baek Ji-young's hit song 'Candy in My Ear' at a fan meeting, saying, "In a way, it's an old song. The concept of the fan meeting itself is athletic meet, talent show; we suggested that maybe we should perform songs that I released when I was younger."
