Lee Seung-gi completed a fantastic duet with Lee Hong-gi despite his first grants on 'Immortal Songs'.
On the 17th, Lee Seung-gi debuted on a competition program for the first time in KBS2's 'Immortal Songs.' His partner was Lee Hong-gi, who returned to the 'Immortal Songs' stage after 12 years. The two took to the stage with pride as the Jeonju Lee brothers and sang Oz's 'Drowning.'
Lee Seung-gi introduced the performance by saying, 'I want to sing with a feeling of performance rather than competition. Each of us must have experienced painful and difficult times, and I chose this song hoping everyone can shake it off and feel refreshed.'
Ahead of his first competition, Lee Seung-gi feigned illness by saying, 'I feel sick,' but expressed immense affection and gratitude towards Lee Hong-gi. Lee Hong-gi responded, 'I've done dramas with him, we’ve participated in variety shows together, had drinks together, and often play golf together.'
The two were like fish that found water on stage. Despite it being his first competition, Lee Seung-gi overwhelmed the atmosphere with his hidden rock vocal style. Lee Hong-gi also showcased his impressive vocal ability, shaking off the pressure of competing against Choi Soo-ho, whom he had evaluated.
After hearing their passionate performances, Lee Young-hyun praised, 'I hope to see more of Lee Seung-gi singing. He looks so joyful and lively.' Ha Do-kyun also congratulated, 'When the pollen falls, he jumps around like a puppy.'
Lee Hong-gi and Lee Seung-gi won a total of 418 votes, defeating the duet of Choi Soo-ho and Kim Jun-su.
Meanwhile, Lee Seung-gi recently stated that the trust within his family has been irreparably damaged after his wife Lee Da-in's father was implicated in a stock manipulation case, and he and his wife have decided to cut ties with her family after long consideration.
