Singer Baek Cheong-gang, who overcame cancer, stood on the KBS2 stage of 'Immortal Songs' for the first time in six years.

The 706th episode of 'Immortal Songs,' aired on the 17th, was themed '2025 Oh My Star,' where Baek Cheong-gang performed a duet with singer Park Wan-kyu. The two have a connection as mentor and mentee from the past audition program 'Korea's Got Talent.'

Baek Cheong-gang noted during the broadcast, "I am also performing as a singer in China and have spent a long time on vacation." Regarding his bond with Park Wan-kyu, he expressed, "Park Wan-kyu's sharp words have kept our relationship alive until now. They were worse than sharp words," eliciting laughter.

Park Wan-kyu chose the OST 'Rain and You' from the movie 'Radio Star' for Baek Cheong-gang and revealed, "Baek Cheong-gang gained popularity and was active 14 years ago but was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery. I thought that for that time, the heart of the main character from 'Radio Star' might still be in Baek Cheong-gang's mind," adding an emotional touch.

Baek Cheong-gang made his spectacular debut by winning the MBC audition program 'Korea's Got Talent Season 1' in 2011, but he temporarily suspended his activities after being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2012. After undergoing six surgeries, he received a full recovery diagnosis in 2014 and reunited with fans through 'Immortal Songs' in a healthy state again in 2019.

Baek Cheong-gang expressed his affection for Park Wan-kyu, saying, "Many people can't call him Wan-kyu hyung because his appearance is intimidating. However, I am one of the few younger brothers who can call him hyung. He is originally a warm-hearted person who cries easily."

Park Wan-kyu responded, "Although our situations are different, I also had an unintended hiatus for over 10 years. Watching Cheong-gang, I felt a sense of shared experience. I wondered how much he wanted to be on stage. But there's no need to worry; although his voice is delicate, it seems strong."
