A man and woman who blackmailed soccer player Son Heung-min, currently playing for EPL Tottenham Hotspur, have been arrested.

On the 17th, the substantive examination of the warrant for the arrest of a woman in her 20s, Ms. Yang, and a man in his 40s, Mr. Yoon, accused of threatening Son Heung-min, took place at the Seoul Central District Court. The court issued arrest warrants for the two individuals, who are respectively charged with extortion and attempted extortion.

Previously, Son Heung-min's side claimed that Ms. Yang had asserted last June that she was pregnant with his child and demanded hundreds of millions of won in valuables. It is also known that Mr. Yoon, a man in his 40s suspected of colluding with Ms. Yang, attempted to obtain tens of millions of won.

The two approached Son Heung-min's side in March as well, attempting to extract valuables while threatening to spread false information on social media. The police have reported that they arrested the two and are investigating the details of their crimes.

Son Heung-min's management company, Son & Football, stated, "The clear victim of this incident is player Son Heung-min, and a police investigation is currently underway," adding, "We apologize for causing concern to fans due to this unpleasant issue. Player Son Heung-min is preparing for the rest of the season without being shaken and will demonstrate responsibility until the end."

Meanwhile, Ms. Yang, who arrived for the substantive examination of the arrest warrant on that day, was seen tied with a restraining strap, her face exposed without covering, leading to controversy.
