These days, with low birth rates making babies precious, broadcasters Park Soo-hong and Yang Se-hyung shared heartwarming stories of support for those about to give birth and the noble journey leading to the birth of life.
The new entertainment show 'Our Baby is Born,' which premiered on TV CHOSUN on the 9th (directed by Lee Seung-hoon and Kim Jun, written by Jang Joo-yeon), is the country's first birth coverage variety show that broadcasts raw emotional moments only felt on the day of birth, while supporting those about to give birth and sharing their noble journey leading to the birth of life.
Park Soo-hong and Yang Se-hyung were selected as MCs. Overcoming conflicts within their families, they got married in 2021, despite a 23-year age gap with Kim Da-ye. The couple overcame infertility, successfully conceived through in vitro fertilization, and gave birth to their daughter, Jae-i, in October of last year, receiving congratulations from many. Since Park Soo-hong recently experienced the emotions of becoming a father, he is expected to show even more empathy and support at the birth scene.
Yang Se-hyung, a 'bachelor,' is unmarried but acts as an aspiring dad, showing raw reactions and quick wit in unpredictable situations while broadcasting the joy of childbirth.
As actress Son Dam-bi and former national archery representative Ki Bo-bae shared the childbirth process, 'Our Baby is Born' recorded a viewership rating of 2.2% (Nielsen Korea nationwide) from its first broadcast, demonstrating the viewers' keen interest.
On the broadcast of the 16th, 'The Dynamic Duo' Park Soo-hong and Yang Se-hyung experienced the childbirth of triplets, which has a 37 times higher risk than singleton births. Arriving at the high-risk maternal and neonatal center, the parents of the triplets, who already had one child, experienced a rare case of natural triplet pregnancies as one of the embryos from their fraternal twins split into identical twins. Although the triplet mother was blessed to be 31 weeks pregnant, she had been experiencing uterine contraction symptoms since the 26th week. Ultimately, she was trying to save the babies, going back and forth between intensive care for over a month and receiving medications to suppress contractions.
On the 6th day of being 32 weeks pregnant, the triplet mother's cesarean section was scheduled. The couple felt relieved after confirming during the last pre-surgery ultrasound that all three babies, including the second baby they were worried about, weighed over 1 kg. The three babies were born safely with the help of a total of 16 medical staff, including obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and nurses.
However, the three babies, born at 32 weeks, were experiencing 'neonatal respiratory distress syndrome' and required respiratory support while breathing on their own. The second baby was noted to have a potential surgical issue with 'omphalocele,' which may require surgery. The triplet mother, who had severe placental adhesion, was able to leave the operating room after successfully undergoing surgery to move to the 'high-risk maternal ward.' The triplet's dad said, "All the babies are doing fine. I only saw the third baby, and it was so beautiful. You don't have to worry," as he attentively cared for his wife, moving those present to tears.
In the meantime, according to OSEN's investigation, Park Soo-hong and Yang Se-hyung generously covered the hospital and surgical expenses needed for the triplets' birth. As they each offered half of the necessary expenses, it created a warm atmosphere. Being the first domestic birth coverage variety show that directly visits and supports the childbirth scene while sharing the joy of birth, their sense of responsibility as MCs and heartfelt support for the triplets brought touching emotions.
Meanwhile, the domestic first birth coverage variety show TV CHOSUN 'Our Baby is Born,' which directly visits and supports the childbirth scene while sharing the joy of birth, airs every Friday at 10 p.m.
