The examination of the arrest warrant for a woman accused of extorting money by claiming to be pregnant with soccer player Son Heung-min's child and a man accused of colluding with her took place.
On the afternoon of the 17th, Director General Yoon Won-mook of the Seoul Central District Court held a pre-arrest interrogation for Ms. Yang, a woman in her 20s charged with extortion against Son Heung-min, and a man in his 40s, Mr. Yong, charged with attempted extortion.
During the pre-arrest interrogation lasting about one hour and 30 minutes, Ms. Yang reportedly shook her head in silence in response to a reporter's question, "Do you admit to the charges?" However, it is known that she answered "no" to the question of whether she conspired to threaten.
Mr. Yong, who appeared with her, consistently replied, "I'm sorry." Additionally, both of them maintained silence when asked, "Do you have anything to say to player Son Heung-min?", "Do you still claim to be pregnant?", and "Is it true that you pressured for an abortion?"
Ms. Yang is accused of claiming pregnancy by sending a fetal ultrasound photo to Son Heung-min's Camp in June 2025 and demanding a large sum of money in return for not revealing this. In this regard, it is reported that Son Heung-min's Camp handed her 300 million won in cash. Mr. Yong, a friend of Ms. Yang, is accused of attempting to receive 70 million won in cash from Son Heung-min's Camp in March 2025, claiming he would inform them of Ms. Yang's pregnancy.
On the 7th, Son Heung-min's Camp reported the extortion incident to the police and filed a complaint. The police are currently seeking to clarify the facts and have requested an arrest warrant from the court. In relation to this, Son Heung-min's Camp stated, "We will take strong legal action to ensure that the group that has made extortion threats with false claims will be punished without leniency."
