The virtual idol group PLAVE has begun the countdown to their Japanese debut.
PLAVE unveiled the first concept photos for their Japanese debut single “Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ),” set to be released on June 16, through their official social media channels from the 13th to the 15th.
The released images include a total of six photos, featuring individual member shots and group shots, capturing a nostalgic and warm mood against the backdrop of a train. In the photos, PLAVE showcases school-look fashion with shirts, ties, and knits, creating a warm high-teen atmosphere that generated anticipation.
Additionally, the mood teaser video released earlier on the official YouTube channel features PLAVE looking out the window while standing inside a moving train. The mystical depiction of the members holding onto the train’s handrails from behind sparked curiosity about the concept of the new song. The soft and warm colors of the sunset landscape outside the window blend intricately with the sweet melody of the new track, enhancing the immersive experience.
The title “Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)” means “Hide and Seek” in English and “숨바꼭질” in Korean. As PLAVE’s first Japanese single, it is expected to communicate with global fans through a more expanded musical color.
On the 2nd, PLAVE launched their official Japanese fan club, signaling the start of their full-scale activities in Japan. Moreover, on the 8th, they began pre-orders for physical albums through various music sites. The albums are set to be officially released on July 9 and will be shipped sequentially.
Consisting of five members: Yejun, Noah, Bamby, Eunho, and Hamin, the virtual boy group PLAVE has seen a rapid rise in popularity since their debut in March 2023, primarily in Korea and Asia, and is one of the most talked-about K-POP groups both domestically and internationally. In particular, their second mini-album “Asterum 134-1 (ASTERUM 134-1)” topped the sales of K-POP albums at Japan’s HMV&BOOKS, indicating their growing popularity and influence in Japan.
Their third mini-album “Caligo Pt.1” set a record for the highest streaming within 24 hours among all albums released on Melon, becoming the only artist to hold the simultaneous records of fastest entry into the “Billions Club” and the 24-hour highest streaming “Millions Album.” They have topped various music broadcasts and achieved the remarkable feat of being the first virtual idol group to enter the Billboard Global 200 chart, showcasing their striking growth across both domestic and international arenas.
