Seo Min-jae, who announced her pregnancy, conveyed her desperate feelings and repeatedly requested a conversation amid being sued for stalking by her boyfriend and the father of her baby, A.
On the 15th, Seo Min-jae posted, "I am in a situation where I have been accused of stalking for wanting and requesting to talk to the baby father. If a lawsuit is filed, an interim measure prohibiting contact is enforced regardless of the actual charges, so all I can do now is convey my position through the media."
She added, "I apologize for any discomfort due to repeated media exposure, but I ask for your understanding. I am sorry," and she requested, "If anyone among my acquaintances sees this message, please help relay it."
Earlier that same day, Seo Min-jae met with OSEN at the Ohyun Law Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and detailed the process of being accused of stalking by her current boyfriend since she found out about her pregnancy. "They said they would take responsibility, but in the end, what came back was a lawsuit," she expressed her sorrow.
According to Seo Min-jae, she and the baby father, A, have been dating for more than seven months since last year. Although they had not been seeing each other for a long time, it was a serious relationship, enough for her to introduce him to her parents, and they were close enough for A to attend her younger sister's wedding.
When Seo Min-jae informed A of her pregnancy, he expressed his willingness to respect her wishes and give her time. After deep contemplation, Seo decided to proceed with the birth. The couple had discussed issues like pregnancy and marriage frequently, so they thought that they would practically follow through with such procedures. They planned to inform their respective parents about the pregnancy and have discussions about marriage and childbirth, but Seo Min-jae heard A's parents say, "If you give birth to the child, we will sever ties with (our son)."
Seo Min-jae objected, saying, "Doesn't that mean to get rid of the child?" Ultimately, on April 30, both sets of parents, as well as Seo Min-jae and A, gathered to have a conversation. During this time, Seo Min-jae claimed she heard A's parents say, "We never said to get rid of (the child). Do as you wish regarding whether to give birth or not. However, even if you give birth, we will not register the child on the family register." Seo Min-jae continued to argue, "If you say to do whatever regarding the child's birth but that you won't register the child, isn't that denying the child's existence as a father?"
Despite a conversation that lasted about an hour, no conclusion was reached, and A's parents left, telling them to resolve it among themselves. On the same day, the couple spoke at Seo Min-jae's house, but there was no significant change, and afterward, on May 2, A told Seo Min-jae, "Since you are coming at me this way and you made your mother angry, I will no longer talk to you, and if you have the child, I will take legal responsibility,' breaking off communication.
Ultimately, Seo Min-jae chose to continue contacting through social media. After revealing her pregnancy on social media, she visited A's home and requested a meeting by honking her horn, but there was no response. The next day, she received texts from A saying, "Don't come to me," "Don't contact me," and "I'm scared," and claimed she had not been able to communicate at all since then.
Seo Min-jae continued to post on social media to encourage contact with A, but on the 4th, A filed a complaint against her with the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul for violating the anti-stalking law, the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation), confinement, and assault. Once a stalking complaint is filed, a contact prohibition measure is imposed irrespective of whether there are any charges, so Seo Min-jae is unable to contact A.
Frustrated, Seo Min-jae participated in interviews with reporters to express her desperate feelings. She conveyed a message she wanted to send to the father of her child, saying, "It's still your child, regardless of your situation. For the sake of the child, if there is at least some humanity, I want to have a conversation. That's all I want. I don't have any intention to attack or cause any harm. This is an extreme measure, and I don't feel good about it. This was the best option. I kindly ask you to understand that."
She reiterated, "I will address the points I feel have been victims through police investigations, and I will talk about the allegations again later. But isn't that separate from this? For the sake of the child, I want to resolve this amicably."
