Singer Kim So-yu won a lawsuit for the suspension of contract validity against her former agency, Arang Entertainment, allowing her to engage in independent activities.
On the 16th, Kim So-yu's side stated that they received a favorable ruling on the 13th from the 51st Civil Division of the Southern Seoul District Court in a lawsuit filed against the representative of her former agency, Mr. A, for the suspension of contract validity.
The court recognized the facts claimed by Kim So-yu, including the former agency's failure to settle accounts, unauthorized contract of likeness rights, and failure to fulfill contractual obligations. It stated that the trust relationship between the parties had collapsed due to these faults of the agency, and thus it was difficult to maintain a normal contract relationship.
In this regard, Kim So-yu's legal representative, attorney Kim Tae-yeon from Taeyeon Law Office, noted, "It seems that the court carefully examined the matter and made a judgment." She added, "It appears we can expect a meaningful ruling based on the injunction decision in the main case as well."
Last December, Kim So-yu filed a suspension of contract validity lawsuit against her former agency's representative, Mr. A, citing unauthorized contract of likeness rights and failure to settle accounts.
Debuting in 2018 with "New Moon," Kim So-yu gained recognition by finishing 9th on "Miss Trot."
