SBS 'Running Man' urged caution against impersonating production staff.
According to a report from a media outlet on the 15th, the Suwon Southern Police Station initiated a preemptive investigation on the 14th after receiving a complaint from the owner of a karaoke bar in Ingyedong, Suwon, who was deceived into transferring a high expense for whiskey to a suspect posing as a 'Running Man' producer.
According to the complaint, the owner received a contact from a suspect claiming to be a 'Running Man' producer on the 13th and requested to order three bottles of premium whiskey for a gathering. The suspect showed a business card, claimed to have a whiskey supplier, and provided an account number. The owner trusted this and transferred 3.9 million won, but the suspect only sent a text saying it was "difficult to visit" and then cut off contact.
In relation to this, 'Running Man' stated through social media that "recently, there have been cases of impersonating the 'Running Man' production team to request bulk deliveries of premium alcoholic beverages" and emphasized that "the 'Running Man' production team does not request alcohol deliveries under any circumstances. If you receive any contact suspected of impersonating the production team, please do not respond and take special care to prevent any damages."
Additionally, there have been a series of 'no-show scams' impersonating managers or production staff in the entertainment industry recently, warranting caution.
