'The Hunter with a Scalpel,' which will be released on June 16 (planned/produced by STUDIO X+U | produced by Soul Creative | directed by Lee Jeong-hoon | written by Jo Han-young, Park Hyun-sin, Hong Yeon-i, and Jin Se-hyuk), is a hardcore crime thriller depicting the story of a genius forensic pathologist, Se-hyun, who discovers traces of her father's murder while performing an autopsy on a body she thought was dead. To conceal her past, she sets out to catch her father before the police can, delivering a narrative filled with shocking settings, a solid storyline, relentless pacing, and a perfect harmony of complex emotions among its unique characters, promising an extreme genre thrill and the birth of a well-made thriller. Early recognition for its artistic quality and completion abroad led to it being officially invited to the Rendezvous section of the 8th Cannes International Series Festival, garnering praise and significantly proving the strength of K-thrillers.
The released trio poster of 'The Hunter with a Scalpel' showcases the intense visuals of Park Joo-hyun, Park Yong-woo, and Kang Hoon, evoking an extreme thriller atmosphere that immediately captivates attention. The striking visuals reminiscent of a body sewn up after an autopsy, divided by a keen scalpel, combined with each character's unique expressions and gazes, deliver overwhelming immersion. First, the gaze of the genius forensic pathologist Seo Se-hyun (played by Park Joo-hyun), clearly staring straight ahead, is chillingly calm, yet a complex mix of emotions — confusion, determination, and feelings towards her serial killer father — can be glimpsed in her deep eyes. Her father, the psychopath serial killer Yoon Jo-gyun (played by Park Yong-woo), is seen with his index finger on his lips as if to induce silence, sporting a significant smile. The madness emanating from his devilish nature presents a chilling impact to onlookers. At the same time, the keen gaze of the Head of Team Jung Jeong-hyun (played by Kang Hoon) reveals a strong will to uncover the truth behind the case, intertwining a humanitarian struggle as he believes in the inherent goodness of human nature, adding to curiosity about his character.
Meanwhile, the shocking tagline, 'The father's murders have begun again,' hints at extreme suspense and heightens curiosity. The gripping relationship among the genius forensic pathologist's daughter, the serial killer father sending messages through murder, and the righteous detective slowly approaching their secrets amplifies questions about their connection and raises anticipation to its peak.
