Oh Gwang-rok revealed that he struggled with financial difficulties leading to his divorce in 'Dad and Me.'

On the 13th, the newly joined actor Oh Gwang-rok shared his story of being estranged from his son on TV CHOSUN's 'Dad and Me.'

On this day, Jun Hyun-moo asked Oh Gwang-rok about his feelings joining as a father. Oh Gwang-rok confessed, “This time, I had the opportunity to see my son after 7 years, and I think it has become a really good opportunity. I am very nervous and I am trying to prepare myself because I don’t want to mess up with my son.”

He continued, “When my son was about 5 years old, his mother and I separated, and she went back to her parents' house while I was left alone. That situation happened, and we didn’t live together anymore,” indicating that he divorced when his son was young.

In particular, Oh Gwang-rok mentioned that he got divorced after struggling financially, stating, “When poverty comes in through the front door, love goes out through the back. Theater doesn’t provide for a livelihood. Most people in theater have a hard time. It's hard to support one person with theater, let alone three people.”

Oh Gwang-rok’s son grew up without a father, even when he learned to ride a bicycle or when he attended kindergarten. Regarding this, Oh Gwang-rok said, “At the time of the divorce, it wasn’t the era of mobile phones, so I had to call from a landline and change the phone, so it wasn’t something I could know voluntarily, it’s a foolish and pathetic excuse.”

Then Jun Hyun-moo asked, “What was the salary like back then?” Oh Gwang-rok replied, “After two months of practice and one month of performance, I earned 100,000 won a month in 1982 when I was doing theater.”

When asked if he meets his son, he said, “I haven’t seen him for 7 years since before COVID-19. Even if I call my son, he doesn't answer, and he doesn’t reply to texts.” He expressed disappointment, saying about his son avoiding contact, “I don’t know. I think Si-won’s emotional state isn’t good.”
