Boynextdoor expressed their ambition to become artists representing a generation.
Recently, Boynextdoor conducted an interview to commemorate the release of their mini album 'No Genre' at a café in Mapo District, Seoul, sharing insights about the new album.
In addition to Boynextdoor, several notable fifth-generation boy groups are continuing their global activities and engaging in healthy competition. Taesan said, 'We think the most important thing when working on an album is to add a Boynextdoor touch. I believe that 'Boynextdoor-ness' is primarily about relatable lyrics and creating music that resonates with everyday life. Our music aims to be easily accessible and relatable to anyone, which might stand out as an advantage.'
'I believe we have three strengths,' Woonhak said confidently, drawing laughter. 'First is the stage presence of the six of us. Second, I think it's the chemistry among our members. Our chemistry is so unique that it might be hard to find anywhere else in the world. Third, because our members participate in writing the songs, the lyrics genuinely reflect our feelings and contain something that can't be found elsewhere.'
During the interview, the members also displayed their strong trust and affection for each other, showcasing their exceptional teamwork. When asked about their teamwork, Lee Han said, 'Many people like our self-produced content and chemistry. We communicate a lot and joke around in our daily lives, so we are close. Even with a camera present, our natural selves are captured, and I believe that's something that people love about us.'
Sung-ho added, 'While we are active, we share what we feel as individuals or as a team without hesitation. Right before we perform, we talk a lot about how we should approach the stage together. It seems we end up discussing our shared ideals.'
Jaehyun also said, 'I like the term 'familynextdoor' because we spend more time together than with our actual families. So, I think the chemistry comes from being genuinely close rather than trying hard to build teamwork. It seems that people really appreciate the authenticity of our relationships.'
Since debut, they have consistently used handheld microphones, showcasing their exceptional live performance skills, earning them the title of 'live masters.' Sung-ho mentioned, 'What we think is most important is delivering our energy. Thankfully, when we perform, many people seem to look forward to how we present the stage, especially since we received so much love during our last activity. So we feel the expectation is growing day by day, and we are dedicated to creating surprise and breathtaking performances that exceed those expectations.'
'Before filming music videos, we all practice choreography together, and then we gather to practice live performances. This time, the choreography is a bit challenging, so we've often found it hard to continue performing live after singing just the first verse due to physical strain. We decided to extend our practice time and discuss how we can convey the energy we can deliver and the emotional depth we want to express during the live performance,' Riwoo said, increasing anticipation for the new song's live stage.
Set to perform for the first time at 'Lollapalooza Chicago' from July 31 to Aug. 3 in Grant Park, Chicago, Boynextdoor said, 'Lollapalooza is one of our dream stages. When we heard we could be part of it, we couldn't believe it. It's such an emotional opportunity, and we are preparing hard. Through our tour, I've realized how important communication with the audience is, so I'm diligently studying English as well. Since this is a stage we've long wanted to perform on, we strongly desire to present our best and create a special performance.'
Jaehyun said, 'Having relatives in Chicago since childhood made attending Lollapalooza on my bucket list, so standing on that stage feels extraordinary. I will prepare diligently to become a proud artist, and I hope many people will show interest.'
Finally, the members shared their future goals, saying, 'Before our debut, we communicated a lot with each other and with our producer about our dream of being an artist. We hope that when this generation is remembered, Boynextdoor will come to mind as a representative group. We want to be a group that represents a generation. To achieve this, we focused on creating relatable music. We want to be artists that evoke images in people's minds when they listen to our music. We're currently preparing every album to become such an artist.'
