It has been four years since Jay Yoon, a member of the group M.C The Max, passed away.
Jay Yoon was found dead at his home in the Seogyo-dong neighborhood of Mapo, Seoul, on May 13, 2021. He was 39 years old.
Earlier, a report was received by the Mapo Police Station in Seoul regarding concerns for Jay Yoon's well-being, and the agency made an official statement that "M.C The Max member Jay Yoon has left us," shocking fans.
In particular, Jay Yoon's passing was all the more shocking because just two months prior, the 20th anniversary album of M.C The Max had been released. The news of his passing came shortly after the release of this monumental album, causing immense sadness.
The agency stated, "All members of M.C The Max and staff at 325 E&C are mourning the loss amid great sorrow due to the sudden news. We kindly ask that you pray for Jay Yoon's peaceful rest and refrain from speculative articles for the sake of the grieving family."
Jay Yoon's funeral was held privately due to the COVID-19 situation. The deceased's remains were laid to rest in the United States, where his family resides.
Jay Yoon debuted in 2000 with the band Moonchild and, after the member Heo Jung-min left, transitioned to acting, changing the team's name from Moonchild to M.C The Max while starting new activities alongside Lee Soo and Jeon Min-hyuk.
Jay Yoon actively participated in the team's album projects, showcasing original songs. In addition to his singing career, he challenged himself in acting with special appearances on SBS' "Let’s Go" and KBS2' "Run, Mother!" Notably, in 2012, Jay Yoon appeared on SBS's special Lunar New Year program "Star Affection Village: Match" and garnered attention by revealing he was a popular CM song composer.
