The group i-dle held a special live broadcast ahead of their comeback.
i-dle (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Wugi, Shuhua) appeared in a live broadcast on YouTube’s ‘Channel 15’ on the 12th, communicating with fans while sharing news about their mini album 'We are' with Producer Na Young-seok.
During the live broadcast, the members explained the changed group name while watching a special video 'for G' with Producer Na Young-seok. Soyeon said, "I sent 'G' off with a funeral. From this album onward, we will be active as 'i-dle' instead of (G)I-DLE." She added that the members had often said, "If the team is doing well, let's drop the '(G)'. With the re-signing, we were able to undergo rebranding."
There were also behind-the-scenes stories about the pre-released song 'Girlfriend.' Soyeon, who worked on the track, noted, "'Girlfriend' was only released as a music video, and it is a song I created a while ago. Since it is finally coming out now, I have a particular attachment to it," adding, "I wrote the song with the feeling of 'We are friends of Neverland (the fandom name).'
Producer Na Young-seok, who watched the 'Girlfriend' music video, praised, "The lineup of hits from i-dle, from 'TOMBOY' to 'Nxde' and 'I absolutely dislike being hurt,' is all amazing. I believe i-dle's music can be trusted and enjoyed."
After the live broadcast, i-dle shared their thoughts, saying, "We were really happy to communicate directly with our fans today. We hope you will listen to and love our mini album 'We are,' which will be released on May 19."
The music video for 'Girlfriend,' released on the 9th, proved i-dle's global popularity by simultaneously ranking first on the Chinese QQ Music music video composite chart and the Korean chart, as well as reaching number one on YouTube's daily trending music videos in Korea and number nine globally.
