The prosecution requested a two-year prison sentence for Kim Tae-yi, who was indicted without detention on charges of drunk driving.
The Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Division 21 held a concluding trial on the 12th for Kim Tae-yi and another individual, who were indicted for violations of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (dangerous driving causing injury), among other charges.
The prosecution requested a two-year prison sentence for Kim Tae-yi and a fine of 5 million won for acquaintance A, who was indicted for falsely stating that he was the one driving instead of Kim Tae-yi.
On this day, Kim Tae-yi noted, "If you grant leniency, I will live my life reflecting on this incident so that such a thing never happens again."
Earlier, Kim Tae-yi was caught by the police for drunk driving near Sinsa-dong in Gangnam District, Seoul, in September last year. According to her agency, EST, Kim Tae-yi had called a designated driver and was waiting in the car, but she had to move the vehicle at the request of the parking attendant and accidentally collided with a passing pedestrian while moving the car.
At the time, the agency stated, "Kim Tae-yi deeply regrets her drunk driving," and added, "We also apologize for causing social controversy."
Meanwhile, Kim Tae-yi debuted in 2016 with the drama "Monster" and has acted in dramas such as "Hospital Ship" and "The Queen's Umbrella." She gained popularity by appearing on the streaming program "Love Transition 2" in 2022 and is currently working as a barista and clothing brand designer.
