There is a couple that gained attention after giving birth to quintuplets through natural conception for the first time in the country. The protagonists are 31-year-old Hye-ran Sagong and 32-year-old Jun-young Kim. Last September, Hye-ran gave birth to Sae-him, Sae-chan, Sae-gang, Sae-byeol, and Sae-bom at 26 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy. The quintuplets, born as extremely premature infants weighing less than 1 kg, received treatment in the neonatal intensive care unit and were finally able to return home after 6 months.

The couple was greatly surprised by the unexpected news that their baby conceived in their 5th month of marriage was quintuplets. They were initially worried about whether they could safely give birth to all five children, but they decided to carry out the precious lives entrusted to them. Although they faced challenges during the pregnancy and risks during childbirth, they consider the quintuplets to be a gift from heaven.

Every moment feels miraculous, and they are grateful to the babies, who came into the world with small, fragile bodies and endured well. The couple, who gained quintuplets in their first childbirth, are exhausted from parenting but are feeling a happiness and fulfillment they have never experienced before. This program aims to exclusively cover the daily lives of the couple raising quintuplets and share the joy and happiness derived from parenting during an era of low birth rates, as well as the story of parents growing alongside their children.

#The struggles of first-time parents

The quintuplets, all born weighing less than 1 kg and having received care in the neonatal intensive care unit. Mother Hye-ran runs to feed the babies breast milk daily, without being able to properly recuperate after childbirth. Thanks to the parents' utmost dedication and the care of the medical staff, the children began to be discharged one by one since early January.

However, the fourth baby Sae-byeol's discharge keeps being delayed due to respiratory problems, causing the parents to worry, while the first baby Sae-him is readmitted due to a urinary tract infection. The couple has been continuously shifting between the hospital and home, tirelessly managing 24 hours a day. They do their best to care for the children from their respective positions.

Meanwhile, Hye-ran can’t help but feel guilty thinking, "Would the children have been healthier if I had carried them for even one more week?" She is just grateful to the children who have endured well so far.

Finally, 6 months after giving birth, following Sae-byeol, Sae-him is also discharged, and the quintuplets are gathered in one home. Despite the many ups and downs over the past 6 months, the parents’ hearts are filled with joy and emotion as they see the quintuplets together.

#Parents grow alongside their children

Jun-young and Hye-ran, who are on parental leave, are engaged in a daily parenting battle, feeding the children six times a day and changing diapers. In the midst of constant parenting and housework, the couple's only time to rest is the short moments when the children are asleep.

In such difficult days, the one they can rely on is their spouse. Hye-ran, who dives into parenting without a moment to recover her body after childbirth, dedicates herself to the children, while Jun-young tries to take on more of the parenting responsibilities in hopes that Hye-ran can sleep a little more.

As the couple begins parenting together, they begin to feel a deep bond akin to camaraderie. There are many challenging moments while raising children, but thanks to their spouse who has been a source of support, they can endure those moments well.

There are times when it is physically and mentally difficult, but through parenting, the couple discovers new aspects of each other and grows closer by raising their five angels together, finding new joy.
