Actor Lee Jun-young has changed 180 degrees.
Lee Jun-young shocked viewers by punishing himself by devouring fried chicken in the KBS2 drama ’Pump Up the Healthy Love' that aired on the 8th (written by Kim Ji-soo, directed by Park Jun-soo and Choi Yeon-soo).
‘Pump Up the Healthy Love’ is a comical romance about a health enthusiast director, Doh Hyun-jung, who radically corrects the lives of overly worried health newcomers. Lee Jun-young plays the role of Director Doh Hyun-jung, who suddenly takes over an old health club from being a world-class bodybuilder.
On the day of the broadcast, Hyun-jung began intensive training for Rosa (played by Lee Mi-do), who decided to participate in a fitness competition. Hyun-jung, who wanted to add weight to the barbell, and Rosa, who refused it, had a tussle, and when Rosa dropped the weight on her foot and fell, Hyun-jung was thrown into a ‘mentally broken’ state.
Hyun-jung appeared like a ghost in front of Mi-ran (Jeong Eun-ji) as she was trying to enjoy delicious fried chicken alone at the chicken shop, shocking her. Pushing aside the cautious Mi-ran, he quickly stuffed a chicken leg into his mouth and chewed, showing a completely out-of-control state as he said, “I will punish myself by putting in high-calorie fat lumps into my body.”
The sight of Hyun-jung devouring chicken after adhering to a strict diet and exercise, along with Mi-ran’s gloomy expression filled with worries, brought laughter. Later, Hyun-jung mistakenly drank soju from a cup thinking it was water, and even while drunk, he sat on Mi-ran’s lap and exclaimed, “From here, you look like you have a completely double chin,” showcasing his health enthusiast personality which elicited laughter.
Hyun-jung’s attempt to uplift Rosa, who had lost confidence, was also depicted. Approaching Rosa, who continued to exercise despite an injury, Hyun-jung said, “You’re the best athlete I’ve ever seen” and gently handed her a sweet bean jelly, causing Rosa’s touched expression to once again burst out laughter from viewers.
Finally, the broadcast ended with a scene of a young child visiting ’Pump Up the Healthy Love' and calling out, “Dad,” while approaching Hyun-jung, who then lifted the child into the air, amplifying curiosity about the next episode.
The KBS2 drama ’Pump Up the Healthy Love,' featuring Lee Jun-young, airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:50 p.m.
Meanwhile, Lee Jun-young showcased a remarkable presence in his previous works, Netflix’s ‘The Good Detective’ and ‘Weak Hero 2.’
