Actor Choi Min-ho conveyed his thoughts on the conclusion of 'Something Went Wrong.'
On the 8th, Choi Min-ho wrapped up his role as the protagonist Doba-woo in the web drama 'Something Went Wrong' (original work by Takbon / written by Seo Ji-eun, Sung Yu-hwan, directed by Sung Yu-hwan, co-produced by Moving Pictures Company and Kenaz), which concluded with 8 episodes.
'Something Went Wrong' depicts a love story of two young people who try to refill each other's long-misaligned feelings from the very first button. It is a spin-off based on the webtoon 'Popularity is Something Went Wrong' featuring supporting characters Doba-woo and Ji-hoon.
In 'Something Went Wrong,' Choi Min-ho played Doba-woo, a first-year student majoring in Political Science and International Relations who has a crush on his childhood friend Ji-hoon. He brought vibrancy to the character by portraying Doba-woo's complex emotions and psychological changes with delicate and stable acting.
Through 'Something Went Wrong,' Choi Min-ho, who showcased dazzling visuals and acting prowess, announced the birth of a 'super rookie' via a Q&A with his agency Billions.
Here is Choi Min-ho's Q&A regarding 'Something Went Wrong.'
Q. What do you think of finishing 'Something Went Wrong'?
A. I feel an odd emotion that it ended, yet it doesn't feel finished. I still vividly remember the set. I want to express my gratitude to Director Sung Yu-hwan, who created a comfortable atmosphere like a playground, Assistant Director Ha Ye-joo, who always looked after us and loved us, and all the staff members who took care of us. Thanks to everyone on set, I think 'Something Went Wrong' has transformed into 'Something Went Right'!
Q. How do you view Doba-woo, and were there any challenges or particular aspects you focused on while acting?
A. I think Doba-woo is a friend with a personality completely opposite to mine. Since he tends to think with his heart rather than express himself verbally, I focused on absorbing the character by recalling Doba-woo's painful memories and past.
Q. Was there a particular scene or line of Doba-woo that stayed with you?
A. "I wonder how many times I've imagined this moment." The scene where Doba-woo talks about his painful and difficult memories is what I remember the most. It's a moment where all of Doba-woo's thoughts, who has been unable to express his pain, trembling, and thrill, are revealed, making it particularly memorable.
Q. Have you looked for viewer reactions to the work, and were there any comments or responses that left a strong impression?
A. I am genuinely grateful that so many people like me, and I have been having happy days recently. I am often surprised when I wake up in the morning and see messages. There are many comments saying they want to see me, and I feel I must grow more to repay those who support me.
Q. How was the atmosphere on set and the chemistry with the co-stars?
A. Since the weather was getting colder with winter approaching, everyone had a hard time with the night chill. However, we came together as one and were able to shoot in a family-like atmosphere. Not only on set, but also before filming started, we met and practiced with the actors in advance, and on days when we were not filming, we spent time eating delicious food together, which allowed us to act comfortably without awkwardness.
Q. What do you think 'Something Went Wrong' will mean to you in the future?
A. 'Something Went Wrong' will remain a work that serves as my start and a launching pad for my future. It will be a work filled with memories that everyone worked hard on and loved.
Q. Are there genres or roles you wish to challenge yourself with in the future?
A. There are many things to learn and many genres and roles I want to challenge, so I aspire to be a consistent actor. Among them, I wish to try playing a villain or a character with a psychopathic personality, which is the opposite of my own. I want to create aspects of myself that I have not experienced and become an actor with diverse faces.
Q. What are your activity plans for 2025?
A. 2025 will be a year focused on deepening my acting and taking on various challenges. This year, I aim to broaden the range of genres and characters I take on and strive to expand my inner self through diverse experiences. I believe that to grow as an actor, a variety of experiences are necessary, so I will strive to fill my experiences by engaging in conversations with many people and work hard to enrich myself. I will always remember my original intentions and become an actor who repays with positive energy and a bright appearance.
Q. Could you say a word to the viewers who loved 'Something Went Wrong' and Doba-woo?
A. Hello, I am Choi Min-ho, who played Doba-woo in 'Something Went Wrong.' I am truly happy to greet you like this, and although there were many shortcomings in my acting, I sincerely thank you for watching over me with warm eyes. I will continue to strive to show better appearances and be a consistent actor. I feel very proud that 'Something Went Wrong' seems to have turned into 'Something Went Right,' and I sincerely thank everyone who supported me once again. I love you!
