Jenny from 'You Quiz' expressed that she felt pressure during her first solo activities.
On the broadcast of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereinafter 'You Quiz') on the 7th, superstar Jenny, who recently returned from Coachella, unveiled the behind-the-scenes from the 'Coachella' stage.
On that day, Jenny stated that she took to the Coachella stage after a preparation period of 16 months, performing 13 songs live without a break for 50 minutes, which impressed many. After that, when combining Jenny and Coachella, there was even a term 'Jentchella,' as she swept through the 2025 Coachella.
Yoo Jae-suk asked, 'How do you feel these days?' and Jenny responded, 'I think I felt for the first time in my life that it feels 'refreshing' inside. It really feels refreshing. I think I can go without seeing it for a while. I can afford not to work.' She then honestly said, when asked how many times she watched her video, 'I watched it fully about twice, and then after that, it kept popping up. It seems like I keep going back to it on my phone.'
Jenny stated, 'Originally, I don't monitor much. Since I tend to overthink, I feel that if I do the monitoring, I might get stuck on small details, so I usually think to look at the bigger picture, but I watched some of Coachella. It's not that it was perfect, but I was genuinely immersed in it, so it's embarrassing, but I did watch it.'
Then Yoo Jae-suk asked, 'It's amazing that you performed live for 50 minutes without a break and about 13 songs in a row. How much did you practice?' Jenny replied, 'I usually can't perform fully during rehearsal. I have this wall when it comes to my work regarding my physical strength. I wanted to overcome that, so whenever I had time, I kept a 50-minute track going and practiced while running, and when that didn’t work out, I also received treatment, repeating treatment and practice to achieve that performance. This time was truly a battle with myself.'
In particular, Jenny felt a burden concerning her first solo activities. She revealed, 'The pressure was really huge. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. It felt amazing to even be alive. I'd think, 'No, focus,' or 'What if this happens?' The mind of a person goes back and forth. That's what scared me. My ups and downs were too extreme.'
She continued, 'I think I had a lot of self-doubt. I kept finding places to escape to, wondering if I could do well. Showing my wobbly self to others also brought me stress. I think it was like that until I got on stage.'
Then before taking the stage, Jenny comforted herself by saying, 'Believe.' She stated, 'I shouldn't be shaken by anything anyone says. I have solidified it enough and prepared enough,' and added, 'I have to believe in the time I spent on what I did, in people, and in myself while thinking that as I first stepped onto the stage.'
As a result, Jenny took to the Coachella stage. The audience that came to see her amounted to a staggering 250,000. Jenny expressed, 'I was so overwhelmed. It felt rewarding to have my preparation acknowledged. Looking from above, seeing the endless audience made me incredibly grateful. I felt like I could be happy in the future, and for that, I was thankful.'
When asked what meaning this Coachella stage would hold for her, Jenny replied, 'It's a gift for 15-year-old Jenny. I think it was the best gift I could give to myself. It's a reward for the version of me who took the first step without knowing what it was.' She added, 'Although I must have been shaking a lot and it must have been tough and lonely, time does not betray, so don't forget and just keep living. I've learned that enjoying the most is what I'm best at. I really enjoyed Coachella and was happy on stage. Right now, I'm contemplating what I want to do next. What would be fun? I think I'll continue to live like this.'
